Just to show my age, I\'ve got no idea what you\'re on about willis lol

Exactly.. paint straight from the pot is saturated. Look at Vallejo Flat Red...GW Goblin Green. Those are saturated, and people will certainly notice if colours straight from the pot are used! Take my troll and coteaz for example.. coteaz was more \"straight from the pot\" and the troll was very, very desaturated (too much imo! :drunk: ).

So.. basically if you choose to highlight or shade with colours either than white or black you\'re desaturating it quite a bit more to the point where I\'ll write \"Love the desaturation\"! Otherwise, with white and black, the desaturation is between only 2-3 pots.

And when highlighting with something like dwarf flesh (usually to simluate sunlight) or grey you will have more realistic tones. Hope that\'s not too confusing, I probably jumbled the facts.. oh well you\'ve got it right anyways

so your talking about mixing colours instead of using standard company colours?

if so, i have been doing that since i was eight as i could never afford that many paints lol

Yeah, I like the desaturated (not overly bright and vibrant!) look that they have too. Not keen on the models at all, but you\'ve done a decent job with them.

The simple bases work pretty well too I think.

@Ainu, I think that is the longest, most confusing description of desaturation! lol

Saturation is colour vibrancy.
More saturated = brighter, bolder colours.
Less saturated = duller, muted colours.

Easiest way to do it: add grey.

i don\'t realy do bright anyway, it would be a challenge tho. (it would probably end up looking realy camp lol )

also depends on how much gw are asking for harlequins nowadays as well.
