Eldar Void Dragon Phoenix

This astounding piece was comissioned by our very good friend Sildani, "The Bringer of Nature's Goodness", a frequent user of our site. He envisioned a beautiful Eldar Goddess, whom his pirate contingent served, and wanted a worthy tribute to her visage streaking across the battlefield. It really served to be quite a challenge. First off, he wanted a piece of two-dimensional artwork of Kali's creation put on an incredibly three dimensional model. So she'd have to work right over the shape. Imagine the sword ... right over the cockpit. And then we'd have to give the illusion of three dimensions in the 2D art. An additional challenge came in the fact he wanted it, not on a conventional flying base, but actually flying at a full 18" off the field. We mutually agreed this could best be accomplished through a small but extremely heavy base. It had to be heavy but also have a bit of give in the post so it wouldn't fall every time it was tipped. Also, the model had to be removed from the base for transport. All in all, it was quite challenging to get everything together in a way that had both form and function but we've definitely accomplished it! But that is why there is a screw coming out of the bottom in some of the pics :)

Gosh some people are harsh! thats some damn fine work there boyo, I like the shading of the white especially. What it does need though, is a focal point colour, as it all very pale and detailed, but nothing really really stands out from the painting. Job well done!
