Son of an Achab
...since the old Achab got lost in the abyss of the ocean, the crew on board was no longer the same. They felt disorientated and confused, searching for the reason in a sea too big to find a place to stay and where to feel at home. But down in the galley, in the captain's apartments, life was still happy. Nobody had ever understood where the old Achab had found that small boy who was playing with the captain's old clothes. Some believed it was his son, born in some port, some night, by some woman who had known how to calm his angry heart. Some were sure it was a foundling, like Ahab himself, abandoned and to be provided for by fate; a foundling the captain had taken on because he reminded him of himself. This child had never had a real name, but just one he was called by. In order not to call him Achab's son, seeing that his orginis were not clear, many called him â??son of an Achabâ??, which had a negative association and was almost meant to insult him. And the boy, who was a godd observer, soon realised the destiny expressed by these words, namely to continue with the deeds of his benefactor, independent of what exactly the old Captain Achab was to this young boy.
