Fire Elemental Daemon (Repost)

This is my version of Ral Partha's Fire Elemental Daemon, painted in October 2002. I found this and the Water version in a discount bin at Phoenix Games in Minneapolis, and I found the other two at New Wave's Gencon booth. The original figure has a 10mm/30mm base which has been rebased diagonally on a 40mm GW base. To disguise this, I added three separate flames sculpted out of green stuff around the original figure. I painted the skeletal parts first, primarily in Vallejo's Cork Brown -> Pale Sand -> White, with several washes of Cork Brown/GW brown Ink/Future Floor Polish/Water. This is my first time that I've tried painting fire. (Actually, I tried once before starting from blue -> white -> yellow -> orange, but it looked awful! Don't use blue, EVER!) These were painted in Vallejo's Yellow/White -> Flat Yellow -> Vermilion/Yellow mix (to make orange.) One thing that I did quite a bit was to wash the flames with a Flat Yellow/White/FFP/Water mix to make the recesses very bright. I also tried painting static grass for the first time on this one. I drybrushed the static grass around the flames with black and white to make it seem like the grass has been burnt by the flames. Any comments? Ways to improve?

Excellent effort, the flames look great and the basing is also very well done.

YEah! This fella rocks! The flames are sweet and I love the charred grass! Great idea. I would maybe wash the bones with a bit of brown but otherwise, very nice :D

Good job. I love the flames, no body can tell me that the reverse colours look better. The base is a tad too green and something is a bit sloppy on the bone, can't really say what. Still an 8. Nice flaems, nice flames, nice flames, very realistic, .... thinking of doing something similra .. Bonk!
