Legion Miniatures: Hastatus
Another figure from Legion Miniatures - a new line of 54mm metal historical miniatures featuring the Republican and Imperial Roman legions and their enemies. Hastati were typically the youngest men in an early Republican Legion, and formed the front line in any battle. As these young soldiers had to pay for their own armor, most made do with a simple bronze chest plate (pectoral, or heart protector). Our Hastatus is equipped with a Montefortino helmet, a large oval scutum, and a Roman Gladius. Most Hastati were armed with two pilum that were thrown at the enemy at close range before they closed for hand-to-hand combat. Our Hastatus raises his light pilum at the enemy and yells out his war cry. Comments welcomed!
