Legion Miniatures: Triarius
Another figure from Legion Miniatures - a new line of 54mm metal historical miniatures featuring the Republican and Imperial Roman legions and their enemies. The Triarii were the veterans of the Roman army and were held in reserve. It was only when things had gone terribly wrong that the Triarii advanced to the front lines. Our Triarius is armed with a long spear (hasta) and the short stabbing sword (gladius). He is armored with a mail shirt, a large oval shield, and a bronze greave for the left leg. Dressed and armed in this manner the Triarius is a reminder of the original Roman phalanx, based on the ancient Greek style of warfare. Comments welcomed!
