Dark Elf Corsair Standard Bearer

This mini represents a couple of firsts for me. It's the first time I have used NMM on anything. It's also the first time I have done a banner and I was pleasantly surprised to be able to do something halfway decent with it (I can't draw to save my life, so I thought I'd never be able to make anything freehand look good). It's also the first time I spent more than 10 hours on a single mini of this size, I hope it shows!

Coming along nicely Katie, try photograghing against a piece of white printer paper though as the background on the front shot is confusing and the eyes tend to wonder to see what is in the background.

The cloak is simple in theory, and several hours in the execution. I base coated with Vallejo's Balck-Green. The spines were basecoated with Vallejo Deep Sea Green, leaving a little of the black green showing in the deepest parts. I layered on highlights using Deep Sea Green mixed with white. The larger scales were painted Scaly green, and again highlights layered with Scaly green mixed with white. The tinitest scales were painted Vile green, and when possible also highlighted with Vile green mixed with white (most of them were too small to highlight)

Not to crazy about the colorsceme, but the cloak is freaking incredible. Could you clue us in to how you did it?
