Aurora Chapter Librarian

Here's my latest piece: a Librarian for my Aurora Chapter Space Marines- Codicier Alderon. Aside from updating the miniature with a new plastic arm and backpack, this guy is pretty straightforward. I've included a front and rear view, as well as an inset detail shot of the face from straight on. The biggest trick when including specialized characters like Librarians, Chaplains, Apothercaries, and Techmarines, is trying to tie them back into the rest of your army. In my case here, adding a model in blue armor back into an army that's mostly green. I think that the overall effect is fairly successful, with green accents (like his purity seals and a few of the gemstones), and the green force rod. As for the blue, it's a mix of GW Deadly Nightshade and GW Enchanted Blue. My main problem with this miniature was the annoyance of the force rod. It was a royal pain in the arse, to say the least. All the twisting rune-like relief gets pretty meticulous when you're trying to highlight it all equally, so I went for a minimal approach to the main shaft of the weapon, leaving it a full shade darker, and only one simple highlight on it. Particular care was also given to the gemstones around the model, most notably those on the psychic hood, using green again to help link the model back into the rest of my army. Blue and red stones also appear on the force rod, mainly for variation. As usual, comments are appreciated and encouraged. Joe
