Freebooter Archaeologist/Lara Croft, Tomb Raider

Here's my latest finished piece, Werner Klocke's Archaeologist from his Freebooter Miniatures line (although she's pretty much Lara Croft, and I painted her as such). This was a commission piece like my last post, but for a customer who paid quite a bit more for the higher quality paintjob, and also for the extreme specifics he had for the colors on the model... But, I had some fun with this one, and I have another around to paint for myself at some later date. I'm particularly pleased with how the silver NMM came out on this, as it shows a little personal growth in that area. Hopefully, such growth will continue as I play with my NMM a little more. As always, leave a comment or some criticism, both are appreciated! More and larger pics (as well as a pic of the rear of the model) are over on my Pbase site... click the link under the image to go have a look! -Joe

while your paint job is quite nice, she does look like a freak. she NEEDS eyebrows. have you seen womens eyebrows lately? if they were sculpted on they wouls look like catapilars. just give her a thin black/brown curve (like most girls i would expect her to pluck her eyebrows). her mouth looks funny too, like shes had a few popsicles - the "lips" are too big around the corner of her mouth. these things (esp the eyebows, she would at least pencil some on) and the puple nail polish (personal preference) combine to bring your score from me down by at least 2 points. good job with the nmm though.

I appreciate the comments all, keep them coming. Temperance- I'm not 100% sure I can agree with your grievances, so I'll just respond. To the first, about the eyebrows, my stance on eyebrows is, if they're sculpted on, I'll paint them. If they aren't, I won't. The last thing we all need is Lara looking like Eugene Levy with some giant caterpillars above her eyes. This is basically how I think painted on eyebrows look on models of this scale. To the second, concerning her lipstick, I think you're confusing the shadow on the right side of her face (our left) with misapplied paint. As this was a commission piece, and its since been shipped, I can't make any changes to the miniature's appearance. -Joe
