Sasia Samaris, Die Wuestenrose (Repost)

This was one of my entries for the CCIII, and it was finished up in November 2002. The mushrooms at the bottom are resin casts of some figures I sculpted. I wanted to give it an organic look so the scorpion look was inspired by boiled lobster, the underside of a manta, and the top side based off the camoflage of a flounder. I've since learned how to use my camera a little better, including how to set the timer to remove the shaking when I hit the button, as well as setting the picture type to a super large TIFF (1600x1200?) I'm reposting some of my favorite figures that I think are underrated, and this was one of them. I think this is the best figure I've ever painted.

I agree, the back is what stands out the most to me. I like the cream-colored blades too.

Well, the most striking thing is the bright home brewed mushrooms at the front! They look awesome as usual! As for the girl (heh), I find that the skin isn't too bad, the metal is nice, with that hint of reflection in there even, and the huge blades look very cool. The underside could perhaps be lighter but it still looks nice. When I see the back though, it really stands out. That patterning is very well done, and the lobster like carapace is really great! I would be very pleased with her, and I certainly wish I had entered now...
