Ejhin de Vanth w/ lighting effect attempt
Here I present Ejhin de Vanth, Zealot of Acheron. I found the sculpt amazing, and thought it deserved a nice paintjob to bring it out. Since I had been toying with the idea of trying to paint light effects, I decided to paint her casting a spell, with a kind of magic circle at her feet, illuminating her from below. Quick review of the final result : * I'm happy with : -the base, especially the marble effect -the gold NMM -the blending on the purple robes (smooth) and on the turquoise ones (nice effect, but not so smooth) -the face * I'm not happy with : -the gems ,because you can't see them on the pic (too darn small) -the scroll, because I couldn't manage to write on it -the conversion, because it doesn't turn out as evil as I thought it would -the lighting effect, because I think it doesn't work here. This last one annoys me the most, as I was putting high hopes in this being like my masterpiece, but the (IMO) failed light effect ruins my perception of it. :( On a side note, I converted the mini because I just couldn't manage to paint the standard arms with those faces. :D Another anecdote ? The text around the "macic circle" reads "I will not just believe what I can't understand". I shamelessly stole it from a wallpaper I'd used some time ago. Maybe not appropriate, but I thought it was nifty. :) Tips of the day : -never use ink pens (like a Pilot V7, for example). The ink never dries and it flows everywhere, ruining jour paintjob. -don't apply finish between layers "to protect the paint". Since it's grainy, it makes it impossible to use inks afterwards (as capillarity draws it away from washed areas) -inks and washes are cool, but take a lot of patience (Mini guaranteed Photoshop-editing free, save for level adjustment)
