Cygnar Captain Kara Sloan
Commission completed for client: The client wanted Kara to be reposed into a sniping pose, which required hacking her limbs apart and re-sculpting a far amount of lost detail. That wasn't a big challenge, a larger challange came in the rest of the project brief which was to position her standing behind a wall, sniping through a window. He also wanted to ensure she looked like she was inside a building and have sandbags and razor wire on the outside. The challenge here was how to do this while still keeping here on a standard 30mm base for competition purposes. The window, razor wire and sandbags were pre-bought he wanted me to use. The wall and the base were custom built and the cobblestones of the inner part of the building was a `plastic-card` product. To keep the model on on it`s original base size I built the base up and outwards to make a little extra room for all the features he wanted to be included. He also wanted the mini to have directional lighting as if the light was coming in through the window. I didn`t want to obscure the model entirely behind the window, so the light effect is a little lost, but still accurate. To add to this effect the cobblestones were painted using successive transitions and highlights towards the window, leaving a gap close to the wall. the highlights focused more on hue than on lightness, to give more contrast and a smoother blend.
