Stormtalon Squadron (NOCF)
This is my very first post on CMON! May it be worthy. This is a squadron of Ultramarine Stormtalons that I painted as part of a multi-artist consortium for the NOVA Open Charitable Foundation 2014 Raffle benefiting DR's Without Boarders. It's Ultramarines vs. Tyranids. I had a blast painting these. First time using color modulation (tips ala John Stiening... Thanks John!) and first time painting Ultras. I used a snow base as we are recreating the Battle for Macragge. I wired in LEDs from PoweredPlayGaming. It was honestly pretty tough fitting the LEDs, wires, programming boards, and fiber optics in a body that small but the effect was awesome. All the engines flicker red, the port and starboard lights blink, and I've got two headlights (albeit, those are a bit too bright for my taste). I also magnetized all the different weapon loadouts for the sponsons so the raffle winners can pick between Lascannons, heavy bolters, and skyhammer missiles.
