Mawloc (NOCF)
This is my first Tyranid that I've assembled and painted. I did it to branch out a little bit from my normal marine and Eldar work and to help out the NOVA Open Charitable Foundation 2014 Raffle benefiting DR's Without Boarders. My first thought on the model, was hat's off to GW. It is really cool and the sculpters/3D modelers did a really nice job and made, in my opinion, a really organic model to paint and lots of opportunities to have fun with deep shading. I used the Tale of Painters - How to Paint Hive Fleet Behemoth as a general color guide but did an opaque charcoal-to-light grey blend on all the claws instead of the continued chitin. Honestly that may have been more to do with being cramped from painting a thousand little blue chitin lines by the time I had gotten there. It's pretty amazing seeing all the different styles come together for a really coherent 1,850 point army.
