Infinity Saelig Vignette

Some time ago I decided to paint a series of miniatures — each as a gift for somebody who influenced my hobby a lot. So this is third miniature in "Exclusive Gifts" project. Each gift includes a mini, a 'vignette' (small terrain piece for it), and backgroung for the mini (written by me as fanfiction) on a pack of small stylized cards. And everything comes in a custom gift-box, so when you open it your jaw is meant to drop. Here is Exclusive Gift #3 for Dave Seley, the most welcoming person I've ever met, and a guy who became my first friend in international Infinity community. My first time at GenCon was 2014, I knew nobody, and was most likely the only russian guy at the event. Dave introduced me to some cool Infinity people and also to Corvus Belli (creators of Infinity). A bit later, Corvus Belli invited me to their headquarters in Spain, and we spent an awesome week there. Without Dave, this story could not happen. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Exclusive Gift #3 Saelig Dave is such a cool guy that Corvus Belli created a character based on him, and written him in Infinity Background. The character's name is Saelig, you can find him in the very beginning of the N3 Core Book. As there is no official miniature for Saelig (he is just a character in Infinity fluff), filling that gap was an obvious choice for the gift. According to official fluff, Saelig is a mobster body of a criminal AI Svengali. Gutier Lisquinos, author of Infinity fluff, is a very intelligent and erudite person, and his choice of names is never random. There is a lot of references in Infinity universe, and, in a traditional Gutier's style, Svengali is not just a name out of his head. I collected all the info about Svengali from N3 book, added references that I found, and wrote a fanfiction based on it - including a renegate Tunguskan hacker George Du Maurier and a strange accident with Trilby O'Farrell, VauDeVille rising star of ultrasonic singing... As for the creating the vignette — I used not-so-obvious Ariadna Metro as a base for conversion. Adding a scratchbuild iPad-looking hacking device, Nomad spirfire and a red eye visor under the damaged lhost skin, kind of drifted him towards rogue AI mobster body. A Hungrie leaping from behing helped to create some tension in the scene. I painted Saelig and the main view of the vignette in a classic red-blue-yellow triadic color scheme. Then came the trick: I've split the vignette into lit and dark parts and painted the dark parts in cool blue-green hues. Most dramatic was how Hungrie looked, leaning out of the darkness into the light. I'm very happy with the end result, considering that the schedule was tight and the vignette was a rush before GenCon 2015. As far as I can tell, Dave was quite impressed too :)
