Figures from Mice and Mystics game
These were taken before I knew how to photograph without the flash well. But I think the flash brings out a lot of detail that is otherwise muted. I experimented with using metallics to give a reflective look to the lizard (actually a gecko) eyes. Do you think it worked? Another challenge was the snake on the purple shield. The snake was raised, so standard washing / highlighting techniques would have made it lighter than the recessed areas. However, on the original 2D artwork for that character, the snake on the shield is black on a lighter background. I ended up washing with a lighter color and highlighting with a darker color. What do you think is the right approach in such cases? Feedback / critiques welcome!
