fairy to the rescue

This came about after trying to figure out what to do with this fairy's hand. It just seemed an odd pose to me and in need of somehing more. At first I was going to have her playing with a yo-yo (still might do that on another one) but it did seem fiddly.... well worse than making the teeny ladybug at any rate. The beetle is from the reaper warlord familiars and was fun to paint. The fairy has nearly converted me to painting nothing but heavily armoured characters with full helmet and visors Did I mention that I hate painting eyes? The leaf is created from polymer clay, i just pressed a real leaf into the top to get all the veins and textures and then trimmer around it, and green stuff to fill in the gaps between her base and leaf and smooth it all out. Yay! my first elimination of Reaper broccoli bases. I wanted the whole thing to have a real life size look to it, as in this is not a miniature of a fairy, it's a real life size scene, and I think it has worked really well. oh she's just swooped down to rescue the ladybug from the beetle in case you didn't get it...

Green fairy
Love her to death. What a brilliant idea for her base. Totally worth stealing.

I love that leaf. I'm going to have to copy that myself. I've got this same fairy, and the painting is done but I haven't (until now) known what to do for the base. Consider your idea "hacked" :)

Thanks for the comments!. You have inspired me to spend a little more time trying to get a better shot of her. I think I over exposed it all a bit. I'm still learning my way around my camera (wow it is amazing what you can learn from actually reading the manual!) I'm also thinking I should paint the green blob under the leaf as a pebble, it was only intended to shape and support the leaf, but ack, photography shows all the flaws yes this is 'spin cycle' you'd never know by looking at her that she experienced such a trauma as losing a wing under the deck huh.
