Instant Forest! Just add water!

These trees are from Woodland Scenic. The trees were set in cardboard bases which were later covered in sand, pebbles, broken branches from the model trees, and various spices. (Do not use bay leaves! They look terrible in scale!) After painting, the trees flock was glued on to the trees. One of the trees broke while I was cleaning off flash; this is in the upper left corner. I took some toothpicks and glued them to the top of the tree and made it look more wood-like, and the top half of the tree lies on the base next to it. It's a great set of trees for a forest ambush. These were built and painted during Fall '01 and Spring '02.

Dab some different tones, shades etc. on the foliage. It adds interest. Indigo.....NOT, terrain can make or break a scene. Look at the terrain of Zion in Matrix, or Blade runner. Compare that to old Star Trek sets. One is gorgeuos the other is dorky. Good terrain can be breath taking.

cool trees. and indigo, go to hell, its about how realistic/creative/whatever it looks, as opposed to just being able to tell what it is.

I cannot understand how people can rate terrain pieces above a 5 - they are intended purely for the battlefield! Perhaps if you made a model of a tree and painted it to look as realistic as possible, then it might be more deserving, but items that are purely for the tabletop should score the 5 they deserve. Great trees, great bases but since all you've done is take shop trees and base them they get what they deserve - a good solid 5. It's not intended to be insulting, merely you've excelled at something that, at best, can only earn you a 5!
