Warhammerquest Plastic Minotaurs

Okay, these are pretty nasty miniatures I painted in July 2002, and I experimented with various techniques. First, to make them more interesting I tried to paint them in a similar style to the Magic: the Gathering "Hurloon Minotaur". They are covered in tatoos, and this was my first attempt at that. Second, I did the skin with a lot of washes, which ended up giving them quite a dirty look. Finally, I used enamel paints for the first time on the axe blades. I mixed a small amount of blue enamel with the skyward reflections and brown enamel with the groundward reflections. I think it gave a rather pleasant appearing metal with little work.

I hate the mimi itself but the paintjob is good. The axehead needs a wash or some kind of shading. To make the tatoos look more like tatoos and not like warpaint take the last color you highlighted the skin with and make a very very thin wash and put it over all the tatooed areas.

Whquest minis are amongst the worst ever put out. But these plastic minotaurs are great!

Congratulations! I've got this mini and didn't want to paint it since I thought it was really too ugly but now that I've seen what you've done to them, well, I changed my mind!
