Testy Boromir. Without cheese.

Boromir from 'The Fellowship Of The Ring'. This was a quite relaxing paint job because I hadn't painted for a while and chose him to serve me as a test mini - I needed to regain the right "brush feeling". Nearly no blending on this one - I usually cannot do this very well after such a long pause. I know the freehand work is a very simple and easy one, please don't blame me for being lazy. Though my painting techniques are not the best on this mini I like the overall look very much, especially together with the base. What do you think? Comments are very welcome as always.

9.5 actually. I love the colour scheme! Instead of boring black you chose red for the main part, and while not the same as in the movie it looks great! I also like the insane freehand on the shield, and the tree in the center is a nice touch! I would have to say the face is insane, and I think you captured the whole head just like Sean Bean or whatever the guy was called! Nice work!

Hi frenchkid, thank you for your comment. You are right, the sword is bent - I tried to fix it, but I couldn't. The sword and the cloak are one piece and I would have had to damage the cloak and perhaps even remove the whole weapon to fix it. Actually the face is not really blacklined, however I wanted to get a dark look for his face (he's a good guy but nontheless one with evil thoughts (and so on)) so it's okay to say it could be brighter. You are also right about the cloak highlighting. It looked way to extreme to me when I highlighted the upper part much more than the lower, but now I think it would have been better as it was before. Thanks a lot for your kind words!

I think you are beeing too humble :P There's definetly some blending there, and the freehand is far from beeing easy ;) Plus it looks good wich is the purpose of adding freehand ! Nice red on the coat. I'mnot a big fan of the dark lining on the face, I think making it a bit lighter would be better. And it might just be an illusion but the swords seems to be bent a bit. Not your fault though :P Oh and color wise, will it dosn't bother much, technically the top of the coat should be lighter then the bottom, more light fals on it.
