Evil Treeman

This is a very beautiful miniature by Masquerade Miniatures I recently painted. Treemen are mostly drybrushed because people want to achieve a "realistic" tree-look, but since this miniature is not sculpted "realistic" but has got this swirly wonderland-look and since I never drybrush, I had the crazy idea to paint the entire miniature with layering and blending. Okay, I admit it's the effort some people put into all their miniatures but well, I'm not such an artist and so this hell of lot of work was a completely new experience to me. I have spent many long hours painting the wooden parts but I think it was worth it. The look is much smoother (of course) than a drybrushed one and fits the atmosphere better. I added glowing eyes and painted the leaves, but those two parts didn't come out very well (I had to reduce the picture quality as always) on the photos. The claws aren't visible nicely as well (too blurry, wrong focus, sorry), but I think you can see there are highlights on them... ^^ Comments are welcome!

love it! this tree man is great - the little details like the glowing eyes really made it work, and the extra time on the bark/wood paid off. nice base for it too.
