Evil D that, sir, is hilarious and insightful. the whole twilight craze is creepy and weird and its making vampires lame.
Oh, it's completely creepy in many, many ways.
1.) They are not vampires in any since of the word other than the fact she calls them such as a marketing tool. It would be far more accurate to call them demi gods, as they have none of the weaknesses of literature's vampires, and many more powers not attributed to vampires. IMHO, with mythological creatures, one must stick to the established legends of a creature otherwise the creature itself becomes pointless. After all, could you describe a creature that was essentially an ape, then call it a unicorn? Sure, it would be stupid though.
2.)The writing absolutely sucks, the characters are boring, and it is a mish mash of ripped off ideas.
3.) The relationship between the two main characters is disturbing: Why is a 90 year old "vampire" interested in a completely unremarkable, untalented, generally useless 17 year old. I mean, hell, I'm in my late 30's and I find even the hottest 20 year old friggin' annoying.
4.)Teenage angst from a 90 year old "vampire". Ugh, cliched and I suspect completely unrealistic.
5.)The relationship itself can be viewed as abusive, and unhealthy, Edward is a control freak, Bella is dependent upon Edwards approval. some would say both Bella's and Edward's behavior is obsessive.
All in all, it is horrible literature. An escapist sexual fantasy, some would say unhealthy, in which the completely unremarkable girl is swept off her feet by a controlling god who takes care of her for no other reason other than he loves this completely untalented, uninteresting, useless girl.
You don't have to be interesting, or witty, or independent, or any behavior that would be rewarding in itself to have a god fall in love with you, you just have to be and that is special enough, is what this screams to me.
It's almost fantasy for the lazy and the shallow, if you get my drift.
Uggh.
