hey Kathryn...
i don't often post WIPs of my work...
i do enjoy hearing what people think of the finished product, good or bad...
but feedback on a WIP feels a bit like too many cooks in the kitchen to me, especially since everyone has a different way of looking at minis...
my customers get WIPS, so they can stay in touch with a project, or make changes if they want, but i'm never happy with the photos...
for a better rundown of my thoughts on WIPs, i just happened to have written about it on my blog last month:
http://jahminis.blogspot.com/
as i continue to develop my own style, i find it better to paint alone, and in my own space...
i do take influences from everywhere, and study painted minis daily...
the thing i don't study is painting techniques of others, or color theory and that technical stuff...
it may just be hard-headed, but i'm enjoying the process of developing organically through constant painting and letting MY natural eye build the composition and choose tones...
i don't know if that makes sense, but it's a philosophy i've been working on for the last decade...
i don't think i have a personal, visible, style yet, or if i ever will...
some painters work i know before i even see their name...
one day, i hope my minis will be as distinctive as Yellow One, Mrika, or Brokenblade (and many others), but who knows what will come out at the end of this long experiment...
so, no WIPs for me...
mostly just because i hate cameras

...
i do like watching other people's projects develop though...
it's like TV for me out here in the bush...
cheers
