New GW Paint Range

When I say new I mean "replacement". It's been rumoured for a few months but yesterday this post on BoLS actually lists what's meant to be happening. It could all be rubbish, but having followed the rumours for some time, pretty positive it's going to happen.

I like the idea of having more choice I dont like the changing of the original paint names

I will be very surprised if the prices dont go up !

According to that thread they're not going to go up - but I do think there's a "yet" clause needing to be added Reckon a copy of the conversion chart is going to have to be made, laminated and stuck on the wall :s

Yep, it will be a pain for a few months checking the conversion chart. Its great for painters to have more choice but I know that its not about that........ the ominous phrase......

Its Business!

Thats why I think the prices will go up a few months after the release.

BUT

They are great paints so I will still use them

My god that is a BIG list of colours, god knows what half of those colours are. Will look forward to seeing what's what but liking the fact that the meduim is coming out too.

The price might stay the same but the pots might have less paint in em lol

Are they making their own mediums, or will this be like the GS? Repackaged at considerable markup with less material under the Citadel name? (Think Polymeric Systems Kneadatite). I have visions of Citadel glaze medium being nothing more than Liquitex at twice the cost and 1/16 the volume...

Oh dear such surely unwaranted cynicisim here :laugh: Surely the good people at GW will not increase the prices?!? As their CEO said the other day that goes against everything they stand for, and he is such a fine upstanding fellow he would surely not lie to the BBC to make sure they didn't recieve negative press now ... would he........?

Oh. As long as the paint has the same high standard I will be buying, I don't care that much about more shades as I have other brands that complements the weaknesses of Citadel. Holding my thumbs for a good gold paint. Still haven't found anyone I truly like from any brand.

Could be interesting, esp with the different sorts. As long as I don't loose some of their foundations and washes, I'll be happy

The name changes are so that other companies can't infringe on copyright

More paints are always nice. I think I have turned paint pot collecting into a hobby by itself with the amount of paints I have haha! Collecting news colors is just as fun as collecting new minis! Anyways, new GW paints will be great. It's 2012 and GW needs to get their **** together and update their range. Having news tones will be nice because I am too lazy to mix my own colors. Plus it is never easy to remember mixing ratios for derived colors. I could write them down but that takes effort. The prices better not increase though. Soon we will be paying as much for a pot of paint as smokers pay for a pack of cigarettes. I think paints should be $3 max.

Excited about this.... I noticed that they pulled a lot of painting guides off their website recently. I stocked up on my fav citadel colours just in case this happens.

New empire models, New Chaos Space Marines and an entire new paint range...2012 could be great!

dont really care about this too much. a bit happy about the potential of flow improvers and such though. and yes, please give us proper golds. and a foundation white.
