My parents live just around the corner from the Bladnoch distillery. If you get chance, go on the distillery tour - make sure you're not driving - and get some sampling in at the end. The owner bottles small batches of other top-notch whiskies that you can buy in the shop. Last time I was there I got a bottle of 1963 Invergordon grain (amongst other things). Amazing stuff. Like the mellowist, silkiest bourbon you've ever tasted.
Scott; Fran & I did the tour a few years ago.
Wigton's a quite little place isn't it ? Except for tourist trollops like us.
And I'm not much of a beer drinker these days, having become a complete lightweight for alchohol. However managed two pints in the hotel on Friday before I wanted to go to sleep, but when I do have beer its normally bottled Cobra, Chimay or Leffe.
It's not so much that I'm a snob about beer, but these aren't chemical crud masquerading as "beers". I'd far rather find a decent microbrewery round here that ruin my liver & kidneys with the chemically forced yeast growth that passes for brewing in this country.
