You may regret that come june considering how bad the live shows of both those bands have gotten.over the years...nah if you have never seen them before it is still an experience and even if you have there are tons of other bands to
Ive been a few times and seen some god awful live acts...Marylin Manson being the front runner of that bunch. Ive never seen Sabbath or Metallica live and Im sure i will enjoy it. Theres some other great bands there too...Killswitch engage, Skindred. Should make for a fun weekend away :D

Not getting the usual Games day mini with the ticket does suck.. considering the price of the ticket. On the whole I dont mind queing, as once I've handed in my GD entries I am not really interested in much else bar the new/in production greens and such that are on display. I'm not into the gaming side of things.
That said the retail experience was better in that once you got to the retail area is was more pleasant than the scrum in previous years. However they need to make sure that there are enough of the GD mini - or they limit the number a person can buy. Last year I was fairly early in the queue but by the time I got to the retail area they had all gone !!! Gobbled up by people who were going to put them straight to Ebay- for double the retail cost or more. I have nothing against people selling the figure to help pay for the cost of the ticket as long as GW hold enough in stock so that everyone has a chance to get hold of it. I mean if you are delayed getting there for whatever reason and you arrive realtively late then you will have no chance of getting hold of it.

I've never been to Salute or Euromilitaire before but I am considering paying them a visit next year and to hell with GW.
£10 entry, £200 lighter in wallet,{*} chatting to great people, Werner Klocke, Franz Sander, the lovely Stephanie,(Freebooter Stand) Mike and Ali McVey, Kev and Sally White (Hasslefree) as well as meeting up with painters old and new (10 ball & AndyG). War Griffon & Freakinacage running the Model Display products stand I really felt sorry for as they seemed to be getting overrun by Forgeworlds "Queue" i.e.mob , but they still managed to seduce my wallet into obtaining a 54mm halfling.
{* Yeah but I have gor some lovely figures because of it......Neccessary Firefly quote:- "I'll be in my bunk!"}

@dragon's reach i'm having enough problems getting letters in the right place at the moment since i'm using a tiny touchscreen you'd think that the precission skill of painting tiny miniatures would be cross appicable to typing on a small touchscreen but no my generation and beyond are destined to sound illiterate through modern conveniences

I'm 56 and have to use my reading glasses to read text messages on my phone so I totally understand the problem.

Seems like it may only be us in the UK that is going to get stiffed over the mini. - here's a direct quote from the GW website re the OZ GD later this year

"The exclusive Games Day Blood Angels Captain will be available at the venue, and is included in the price of entry. It promises to be an incredible event."

Well thanks a fecking bunch. You really know how to make your home fans feel appreciated.:curse!::curse!::curse!:

The problem is the cost of hosting the event jumped a lot with the extra hall to avoid the farce that was last years sales area. It's not the best but tbh they could reduce the game tables and got the same result, I can't understand the desire to game at games day, it's manic. The issue will be confounded by folk checking fine cast casts, if someone is looking at one after another that could cause chaos, and you know some folk will be a bit facetious about getting the 'perfect' cast. I wonder how that will be controlled.

With the greatest respect it most certainly is not facetious to expect a quality product when you are paying good money for it.
When the quality of a product is so bad that the return level is running close to 20% and quality commission painters are adding a surcharge for the additional work FailCast is causing then it is a poor product.

But as has been said before GW is not aiming its product at a discriminiating audience, it's aimed at teenagers who haven't got the life experience to turn round and say "Hang on why am I paying for poor quality?".
If the same attitude towards quality was employed throughout the miniature industry then the hobby would be in serious decline. However as far as GW is concerned model painters like us are in the miniority of hobbyists and as a result have limited influence, in regard to those who spend a great deal more.

I completely agree, i didn't mean that folk shouldnt want the perfect cast, lord knows i have been extremely lucky in most of my finecast dealings, ironically it has been my FW cats that have been quite poor recently, a recent eldar aspect warrior was rather poor.

However i think i was just taking how folk are on the net on certain forums (whom shall remain nameless! ;-) ) and assuming they will be like that at the 'counter' etc. However the big issue with the new finecast packaging is that you have to actually destroy it to get into it (blisters at any rate) so you cant just pop it open to check both sides, though i know this is to stop theft if they could be popped open etc.

A good idea might be to have a seperate stall for just the Games Day mini, that way folk who want it know thats what they are queing for and can check and have lots on hand etc to swap before accepting etc. That way the standard store section will just have new releases and general stock, then the FW guys etc.

However one silver lining about the model not being included with ticket is that you will have a big stock of them at GD so you can swap if you want, as in store they wouldnt have that many!

But yeah i wasn't trying to say folk shouldnt check or simply accept a bad model, however i have received a fiar few metal mini's in my time that were laughable in their pock marks or missing detail, but folk seem to remember metal as never having any issues, although i know Finecast needs to sort itself out.

On a worrying side note from a discussion on another forum, FW seem to be realising some stuff in larger versions of the finecast packaging (Warhammer Forge pack was seen at Salute) and the material looks suspiciously similar to finecast, i.e. on sprues, twisting etc) the belief is FW are starting to use Finecast process for things like the new terminators and maybe even looking to roll out selling FW smaller miniatures in stores?? this is with the usual tonka truck of salt, but is a worry if FW is going the finecast route.

I tottally agree, most metals do have some things that need Tweeking but the comparative difference between removing and smoothing a moulding line on metal and a complete missing section from the cast means that I will not buy FoulCast.

This was stated to me that the Forgeworld show only items were being produced in Failcast, which is another demerit as far as I'm concerned.

If forgeworld goes finecast, they can say byebye to my money. If this becomes reality, it´s really horrible news=(

I think this could be for the littler stuff like terminators, or characters etc, but the larger stuff will still be drop cast etc. But if they do try and make the whole range finecast, FW will lose a lot of sales unless they sort out their QC on that method of casting tout sweet!

Three times returned the same model (green knight) made in finecrap also £13 pound dearer than the metal casting gave up and took my wallet elsewhere.

The sad thing is no matter the seeming logic of our complaints and the how do they get away with it comments is that they DO get away with it and will continue to do so. Nothing we say or do or even what they say or do makes a blind bit of difference so while highly annoying I suppose it's better just too let it go and forget about it and spend money with companies with better customer service.

On the plus side I've found lots of good mini companies I wouldn't have otherwise and been to shows I wouldn't have ( salute) so silver lining and all that.

I don't know what GW are thinking?, its almost like they want to upset people.

This is not a money saving project, its a money making project - its not the cost of the free mini but rather the money they can make by selling it for £10 a shot, plus the fact you can not buy it in the shops.
Ive always liked GW, been brought up on em! as they say. So ive always gave them some rope when it comes to prices but they are starting to hang themselves with the rope, people will only be pushed so far (even kids) until a revolution will start.

I only go to gamesday for golden demon, when it becomes apparent that I will never win one OR do win one then I will move on to the other grown up events.

As for finecast - Ive only brought one finecast mini so far (the blue marine on my WIP) terrible quality, esp compared to the plastic space hulk termi which is super quality.

I do wish they went plastic rather than finecast for the models over metal, as their plastic moulds are a lot better and you dont get miscasts, or they are very rare if the plastic doesnt fill the whole mould etc.

They have started doing individual blisters for characters in plastic for warhammer but there are only 2 or 3 atm.

I feel that would have been a better option than the finecast but i know the costs of molds are mega for injection moulding.

I would have been less pissed off with GW if they did that here in the UK. Id rather pay the £42 now and have the mini than have to que and run the risk of not getting one. Im not even gonna sell it on ebay im gonna paint it for my lamenters army :S
