No backing out now! Trust me you see what other people do and you pick up their ideas and you learn and you push yourself too compete. It's about the most fun way of learning new techniques. I'm learning from 10 ball and his two brush blending and I'm also realy refining my skin tones and realy enjoying my self too!

Also it helps when the mini is so kick ass a real joy too paint. You wait till Megazord man posts he's the master of blending skin tones;) put you on the spot there MM lol!

Right William pg 100 from White Dwarf issue 362. It goes through in a SBS the colour scheme of the flesh very good best I've ever come across. If you haven't got that issue PM me your address and I'll post you a photocopy of all the good bits from the Eavy Metal Master Class as I said earlier in the thread it's about the best issue ever for hobbyists. There's over twelve different layers way to long to go into on a WIP.

Ah F*ck it all right
1 base coat 1:1 tallarn flesh and dark flesh
2 wash with thinned down 1:1:1 mix of DF scorched brown and chaos black
3 layer with 1:1:1 mix of DF TF and Dwarf flesh
4 layer with a mix of 1:1:2 of TF DF and dwarf flesh
5 pure dwarf flesh layer
6 layer of 1:1:1 dwarf flesh fortress grey and bleached bone
7 layer of a mix of 1:1:2 dwarf flesh fortress grey and bleached bone
8 wash of scab red very thinned down on the eye sockets and lips
9 wash of very thinned down scab red/ regal blue mix 1:1 in the deep recesses of the eyes
10 pure bleached none highlite
11 purs skull white final highlite
12 über thinned dwarf flesh blending the mid tones and the shadows be very carefully here as you can f*ck up all your good work test it out on a not so obvious part first!

Oi you cheeky monkey - the pressure was already on against you boys without even more ;). You'd better have a look in my wip in a couple of minutes. I totally agree, this is a joy - I've never painted a duff HF mini yet. They're a pleasure.

Right progress so far damn camera can never take a decent pic gonna take the auto correction device to it soon (lump hammer).

Still got to smooth the gold and work on the jewels but getting there then on to the base.

Crits and suggestions especialy for the design of the base would be appreciated.:)

nice mate, real nice. Great job on the sword also.
Still thinking about bases myself.

ps - I think I can see a little speck of red on his hand from the jewel base coat.

No that's where he's been trying different lipstick colours it's no good on paper you've got to show it against skin good tip there!;) Lol

Cheers mate another reason to take photos shows all your mistakes easily I thought the gold was pucker till I took a photo then went hmmm nah!

he really has a glow about him and the sword is looking really good. What thoughts are you having on the base design?

He's looking sweet as a nut Andy. I like the red tones to his skin, looks like he's been outside for a while. His left eye looks a little low to me, I'd run a dark line along his bottom eye lid to make it look a little smaller. Having said that what you've painted does give him a menacing stare which is pretty cool.

Watcha Milosh, I'm thinking of using the instant mold I've got to take a cast of the GW Slann Mage priests Inca style magic floating throne. The stonework on it is super, use that as a cast for some ancient ruins in a jungle style base built up with sand and cork and etched leaves. Use the last live base I have from you (can't wait for the stuff from Steve to arrive!).

Yeah it is a bit low mistake I made but as there is a bit of a scar on that cheekbone I was thinking of incorporating a drawn bottom eyelid into the mix whadaya think?

I think that would work nicely, a very careful lighter line under the eye (as the lower eyelid is prone to catching the light) would give him even more character :)

Im a Barbarian....Get me out of here!

Moved on to the base got my last realy cool 'live' base from Milosh using it for this. Not finnished yet but going for the jungle look. Crits and suggestions very welcome:)

Frak me you work fast! Looking great. The big leaves are a beaut! Maybe a little more contrast on the base outside the skull. Your mini is really popping! I think the big leaves could handle a brighter edge. Great work
