Normally I love everything you do, you've been a big inspiration for me getting back into painting, but I have to admit i'm not keen on this at all. As usual the painting is fantastic but I think its the SENMM putting me off.

I expected Emperor's Children, and I got Ultramarines...

You make me sad, Skells, where is the pink going to be on this mini?

ty!
still thinking how to paint the eyes and eagle in front... all i know is that its not going to be red...

yo kretcher, cant hardly believe it myself :D but take a look! although the freehand pattern is almost impossible to see in those images. i never got more than half way, covered in dust and will continue collecting...

Well covering figures that are not finished in dust is my spåeciality :) have a lot of them. To much work and to little time.

well its a bit sad to break the news, but there aint going to be anything pink here. booo :D the base is a really easy one, ive already built it, as i have to have a finished base to be able to pose the legs.

thanks for all comments, not sure exactly how to paint the purity seal yet, but im leaning towards black wax perhaps just with a little tint of red, and grey/bleached bone ribbons obviously with text on... stay tuned

@secretpaintgeek; well if i was following this thread id also be disappointed, lol! dont worry, this is just a temporary cut off for my "normal" stuff :)

Dont get me wrong, painting is fantastic and a much higher standard than my own. Just quite a departure from your usual style. Would have been nice to see you take on a more dark and sinister feel to a marine. Sure once the whoe mini is complete i'll be impressed anyway :p

Praise for the elephant ogre, neighbour (same city at least, hej hej). Excellent painting, but also praise for using metallics. I don't like NMM.

ty folks :)
finnpalm, same here really, although really neat nmm can be really sweet eyecandy i usually dont like the cartoon-ish look it usually get. dont fit my stuff at least. that said, you shouldnt look at my latest work in progress ;) hej hej btw!

no time for painting last few days. migraine, sick jr and sick mrs made my life miserable lately, but nothing serious thankfully.
at least ive ordered that etched brass with ultramarine symbols. woo woo. stay tuned...

I agree with you completely about nmm. It is like you say hard to make it look natural, and often comes off as cartoonish. The times I've seen it done well enough I can count on one hand, and those are all pros. Then again I can't do nmm at all so mebe I should shut up. ;D To be honest though, it's easy to screw up with metallics as well. In my opinion it takes a lot of skill to use metallics right as well.

On your latest work: nyargh.. dreadnought *drool* nmm *hiss* it's like ice cream with poop. Jk though. I'm really more of "not a big fan" rather than a hater. And dreads are always cool. I wouldn't mention it to its face.

-"Ha! Your armour looks funny."

-"DESTROY!" *mash mash mash*

Best wishes.

i guess i´m to blame for this brighter fix of your mini, it was a dare from my side;) i´m excited to see how it´s turning out=) give us some nice movement and scenery and perhaps the mini wont look to dull and space mariney=)

That's kind of you considering I'm no where near you in painting skill anymore, but then again maybe you're not elitists. :)

I'm a bit swamped at the moment but would love to meet up. May I suggest a relay paint? Everyone starts with a mini within agreed upon limits (ie only 28 mm fantasy or only four colours and no conversion..), paint for a certain amount of time, like half an hour or so, then pass the mini left and receive a mini from the right, and continue on that mini. :)

/Best regards

EDIT: If I can't make it (or if Ischa don't wanna invite a stranger home just like that :D ) I can at least try to show up for that beer later. ;)

Well Finn that can be a fun experiment and I am just wondering what kind of grade it would recive in the end if we post it here? :) Regarding skill level that is not the important part just meet and have fun with a hobby that we all enjoy.

There is always the possibility to look how other work and learn, often gives more then to just read articles.

Mostly just fun to meet with other people.
:)

Hfamily111, well with the rate of none skel item that we write here I guess it might add up to Two pages soon...
