I like what you're doing with the leg. This project looks great!

I'm sad to hear you won't be at Crystal Brush, but without much to enter it's hard to justify all that travel. I'll make another push for MFCA (even though I can't make it this year), it's a good show and there aren't any restrictions on your entries. As long as it hasn't already won an award at MFCA it's eligible. Plus it draws a number of collectors so if you've got anything to sell you might even make some money to help with travel expenses. Of the shows in the US that I've been to it's the one that draws the most European painters. There's also an MMSI show in Chicago that's similar and supposed to be quite large... but I have not been so I can't speak to what it's like.

Hey, if you drop by Hasslefree at Salute, maybe pick up one of those (isn't this kinda your style even though you don't paint females?):

cheers folks

@bailey yeah ive heard about that MFCA show, and know a few europeian use to go over for that one. worth to look into :)

finn, was actually about to paint that a loooong time ago, after i did the box art for dfb's thuggore bust. figured out its not for me. It is however NOT hasslefree, but Grey Matter Figures. http://www.greymatterfigures.com/index.php?p=2&id=103

grew bored of painting the legs of the demon, so needed a small break.. the very start of my next fantasy regiment.
the greenest guy in town... probably!

was aiming at a total bright green, so its shaded only with green and yellow ink. the rest of the gear will get the usual grim dirty dark look to make a cool contrast :)

Nice too see a change from usual grim skintones, guess it is nice with a break from time to time :) will be looking forward to see the result.

Grey Matter makes the mini for hasslefree. It's Hasslefree's Kev White who sculpted it. When Hasslefree wanted to start doing resin they contacted Grey Matter. I just thought you could make a "darker" version of it, in your style, but if it's not your kind of piece then I understand. :)

I have to ask, and please don't take it the wrong way. Do you really like GW minis, or do you just happen to have a lot of them lying around? :) I really like your style of painting, and I would love to be able to do metallics like yours in the future, but to be honest I think your non-GW stuff is a lot more atmospheric. GW still has a too cartoony look to their minis that I have trouble coming to terms with.

By the way, that Thuggorre bust is awesome. The eyes.. THE EYES!!

Hey Skel, the paintjob on the demon is really incredible.. even if the miniatures really does not hit my taste, the colours and textures are very cool.

Also i like the bright green guy: i find the highlight on his head somewhat strange, but very effective.

Cheers,

Lawrence

Getting back to the Orks Skel??? I love the other ones you did, all of them so seeing some more will only make me drool over my laptop and sketchpad!

That's one GREEEEEN ork mate. The patience necessary to layer up the ink to make the contrast is inhuman! I think it's just clicked with me how you do what you do. Very very effective but god man it must take you hours and hours!

Er gonna try it that way myself on the next mini. Consider yourself copied ;)

ty friends!

@finn... thats a good question mate. you know like half a year ago i basically sold off/gave away 90% of my gw harvest and said "never going to do much gw again" but here i am. actually i do like much of their stuff even if its a bit cartoony sometimes. another reason for painting gw i suppose is that i enjoy going to the gd shows. but yeah there is better stuff out there...
okay always thought the faery was grey matters own line sort of. okidoki.

@demi - not sure if i should make any colorvariation at al on the orcskin, as i want a bright really cartoony look as a contrast to the grim gear they are going to have. but who knows how this will end up, perhaps it doesnt work at all :)

@crud - ty mate, i realised this kitbash is not for everyone lol. somewhat twisted, but its a demon after all! :)

@dfb - yep have cleaned a couple of orcs, including the FW boss and banner guys. this guy are very far from the other orks ive painted before though, they were painted more "realistic" sort of with hundreds of colours. this is pretty much the opposite of that, so i hope i dont let you down heh
yeah seems like i came over the ork overdoze, now 2-3 years after painting the ork nob gang :D

@Andy - yeah it take some time to get right, but it was painted in one evening at ischas place. 4-5hrs?

i have finished the demon body now at least, all non-metal parts. perhaps i should take a break and finish this ork dude, just to boost my finished miniatures 2014 score :)

:)

Maybe a tiny Skelwash of magenta around the mouth parts? I think it will all work great if the gear is fairly graphic as well. I am thinking of how your Grot tank looked but maybe a little simpler or more cartoony??? Can't wait to see what you come up with.

It is! But you can also buy it from Hasslefree. They carry other products beside their own.

Right you are, both skel and Ritual. I assumed that it came after Hasslefree started to cooperate with Grey Matter to produce their minis in resin, but clearly it didn't. Kev sculpted it for Grey Matter, as you say.

Yes faery is Grey Matters. They name a lot of their fantasy pieces after heavy metal songs if you take a look!!!!

dfb

That was not the point. I know it's produced by GM, but it's still sculpted by HF's Kev White. I thought the collaboration between HF and GM came first, and the fairy after. It was the other way around. I already said I was wrong. :) No need to rub it in. And I know it's a Black Sabbath song. My gf is a Sabbath fan. :) (And I'm an Eels fan, as I assume you are. ;) )

How about we drop this discussion and go back to admiring skel's minis? :D

Damn Skel that's a fantastic green skin. I would win something one day if all of you would stop entering your stuff !!!!

When he comes over you kneel behind him and I'll push him over! We grab his box of minis and leg it for the counter and we say they're ours! Keep it secret Lee don't tell no one it's our secret plan!:vampire:
