have to say the images dont really do him justice. but ah well. you get the point.
I think your lights might be too harsh.
What do you think about throwing him in a light tent or an old milk jug with the side cut out for pictures. I feel like the shiny parts are gettign some harsh glare from your lights and the highlighted parts are getting beat up.
Banner is awesome!

yeah i was photographing him in a hurry before i rushed to work, might be one of the problems i should probably fix some better lightning later on, especially when photographing tmm and semi-glossy surfaces its rather essential.
its bulk is a gw deamon prince, not sure the exact size but pretty big, guess you can get a little reference by looking at the skullz on the banner.

speaking of freehand it was time to start the shoulderpad for the deamon. some progress pictures here...
i am stealing an image at the net, just searched "skull spider" i usually do a grid so i can get an more or less exact freehanded copy, this time i was only looking at the picture.
must say painting is such a blast when everything work without much fuzz, ive spend about 3 hrs on this so far and are really happy.
first, knock in the basic pattern. wasnt really that careful with colors here, just took what was on the palette atm
next, painting spider legs and add some details. think i missed a progress photo inbetween here...
still rough though
smoothen things out...
going to add some dots for a nurgle symbol at the forehead and spider web in the background. probably not eyeballs in the skull.

thanks Demi, might add this pad is slightly larger than a normal space marine pad. deamon size. no, no magnification. ive tried it but its more in the way than helping imo.

painted a spiderweb-pattern behind the skull, not quite show it justice in these blown up picture
decided not to make any more details on the skullspider, nurgle iconography not really a necessarety as the banner have a large one. edges of the pad still need more work here
glued it on the mecka arm, instantly making the mini look more powerful. sort of
somebody shoot me i am bored of this mini now. next up is a couple of smaller minis for sure. or less detailed at least...

DAM SKELL that is some amazing free hand....that came out so awesome. I am about to post my attempt at freehand on my wip so if you want a good laugh stay tuned Compared to you mine looks like a child with a crayon after you tell them to stay in the lines and they produce a magnificent piece of art that...well...you will see hahaha.

digganob, no one is a pro in the beginning, freehand need a lot of pracise before you master it. just ask 10ball
bailey, no spider web is planned on this one, the web theme was actually more of an accident, was just improvising how to make the power armor littlebit more interesting. also, the demon is supposed to be partly transformed into a fly, sort of. it will hopefully be more obvious when the bug-wings are attached. at least no web like on the goliath mini. basicly because that was a fail, lol.

hey folks!
so im about to do what i brag about not doing, im going to put the deamon aside for some time. i have another mini in pipe that i have to finish for Salute and later the Dukes of Bavaria show.
i am however not allowed to show wips in public so you have to do with this for now lol
the demon is finished with exception of the wings and base, but i will not be able to totally finish the guy until summer.
right now im also busy busy with having a cold and to adding swedish subtitles to painting buddhas upcomming dvd release, much job there. but i owe him one
laterzzz
