Good sci-fi mini recommendations?

I don't really have any sci-fi minis yet, but I'd like to try painting some. Any good sci-fi mini brands? I was thinking of trying Battletech and Infinity minis, although the latter seems a bit expensive.

I second that. infinity figures look awesome and if you only buy 1 or 2 it's not expensive either.

Okay, you guys have convinced me, I'll get some Infinity minis! :D

I'm liking the look of the Sedition Wars minis, too, although they seem harder to come by...

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!

The Sedition Wars models aren't that hard to come by. You can order them from THIS WEBSITE (CMON STORE).

Thought I would *bump* this thread, as I've since purchased a number of Infinity miniatures and wanted to give some impressions of them.

First one I bought was a "Shang Ji Invincibles" I picked up from a local store. Opening it up, it had these "complaint code" pieces of paper in the packaging. Not knowing what these were for, I casually discarded them and went about assembling the mini. It was only then that I realized I was missing pieces (the little fin things for the back), and that I needed that complaint code number to submit a claim to get the missing piece. It wasn't a big deal though, since I though the mini looked a bit sleeker without the fins and I just filled in the sockets with green stuff.

I figured that first experience was bad luck, so I bought a few more. The next few assemblies went fine with no missing pieces. Although like kendarus noted, they are a bit of a pain to assemble giving the multitude of pieces, especially some really tiny bits. And making it more challenging is they typically have a ton of flash on them. Often I find myself wondering if something is actually supposed to be part of the mini or just extraneous flash. The fact they don't provide any sort of assembly diagram doesn't help.

But today I decided to get the Tsyklon Sputniks. I was especially excited since these look straight out of the pages of Masamune Shirow's Appleseed or Ghost in the Shell. I open the box and discover over half the pieces are missing! The only thing included were the legs and the "heads" of these things. A quick Google search revealed that there are nine extra pieces I'm supposed to have.

This is now the sixth Infinity mini I've opened and the second one to have missing parts. That's a 33% packaging error rate! Now maybe it's just bad luck, but I am NOT impressed. And especially since they don't include any parts list or assembly diagram, so one may not even know what they are missing until they go to build it.

I'm going to send in a complaint and we'll see how their customer service is in replacing the missing pieces. If I have a good experience, I may give them another shot. If not, I'm probably done with this company. It's a shame, because they have some really nice designs. But that doesn't mean squat if the quality control isn't there.

Wow that's a really bad number of hits on the "Craptitude chart" and not like Infinity normally are.
Moulding lines, well yes everyone has those to deal with but I've never had missing bits or "Flash"
FLASH Aaahaa The saviour of the universe Oi Can it Freddie!
Definitely get in contact with Corvus Belli over this lot.

And no I'm not sorry for the silliness...It just had to be done this morning.

Well I've yet to hear anything back from the company. If I don't hear anything by tomorrow, I'll follow up and also contact the store I bought them from to see if they'll do a refund.

So far I am VERY unimpressed.

*bump*

I finally received the missing parts. Total time from my original email to receiving the parts was 26 days. They did reply to my original email after about 2 weeks. Seems a bit long for an email response, but ultimately I did get the missing parts and can finally build those Sputniks.
