Dang, that's cool! Glad to see this moving forward, I've enjoyed following it. Especially since I haven't been able to paint much lately :)

Thank you Stokerd. Glad you like.

Been be messing with the pigments. I wanted to achieve a mud like effect, so I very liberally applied the clay brown on top of my dark flesh/scorched brown base. It is very mud like. Waiting for it to dry.

Just ordered my possibly next project. Please tell me your thoughts. This is Bohun's version.

it looks like you like painting armor and metals. First the chaos knight, then the hasslefree one, and now this.
Will you go for a metallic look or NMM on the new one?
And as always: waiting for pics on the base.
Sometimes making the base can be more fun, then painting the mini. I know I can be carried away with all the different vegetation that can be added to one.

NMM for sure. My reasoning is that this particular set if armor will get painted black or a very dark gray, and then I'll glaze in a lot of colors. The last part of this task I don't have a ton of experience with, and so I could learn a lot. That and I'm not ready to move onto TMM until I perfect NMM.

Standby for pics of the base. I didn't want to add any since not enough has changed. I do have a lot of fun with the bases though.

You are correct, Max, I do love the armored warrior. Hmmm....maybe I should paint a barbarian first. There are a couple I've been itching to paint from Russian Alternatives. I need to show off my skin painting skills.

Oh no. That guy just started gears in my head. I got some good ideas for him so....where do you get him and what size is he?

He is Mierce Miniatures. From their Darklands line. 28mm I believe. He was about $20 with delivery. Mierce has a ton of inventory. I'm not a fan of most if it-too bizarre-but they have 5-6 minis that are really top notch.

No one says we can't start our own paint-a-long, eh? You can find him on Amazon, EBay, and in the WampStore, or direct from Mierce (the last two reccomended if you live in the UK).

Gonna have to pick your brain on basing!! Damn , you creative as hell with all those wonderful additions. That's gonna be some scene and right now b/n the smooth nmm and the way the base is looking this is a solid 10 from me. Soldier does it again man.. This guy knows some crafty shioli... Don't forget the Lil people when you make it as a pro artist of display pieces! Or else I will pack up Sammy and send him to Washington to kill you with cuteness. Even the hardest of soldiers have been known to cower to his cute pink snout!!!View attachment 30093

kind of agree with you there. i took a good look at most of their miniatures at salute earlier this year, and while i dig creepy bizarre stuff (KD excluded! lol) the fact that it has to be a super huge penis sculpted on practically everything kind of turned me off. first times i saw that stuff on allan carrasco stuff like the minotaur and rhinotaur i thought it was pretty funny, but now i prefer a pair of shorts.

i really like that mini you showed here though, go for it! :)

Omg yes!!! The same thing, giant penises everywhere, turned me off to a lot of their stuff. I just don't understand it. I dig weird if it's like Rackham weird. But they have some minis that I swear the sculptor had no idea what it was going to turn into when he started sculpting. A couple of their barbarian types are cool. I think they'd have a lot more success if like 90 percent of their line wasn't a bizarre monster. I said as much on a thread concerning them a long time ago.

Ok. This base is a ton of work. It is coming along though. Please note I'll be putting a lot more scrub down, there will be a couple more if the plants you see in the back, statues will get shaded highlighted and weathered, some vines here and there, etc etc. Not sure if I like the red flowers. Anyhow...is it okay? The lighting is off in this pic...

I was going to say I really like those red flowers! LOL - looks cool! About the only comment I have is the statues, but you've already said you're not done with them yet, so waiting to see how it turns out!

The base looks great but my only point is the red flowers, are they too big ? When they are compared to the statue head, then to the figure that's placed on the diorama, the proportions could be wrong.

They are from the Warhammer Death World kit. They're meant to be overly large, bizarre, alien like flowers. Notice the fly trap like tentacles. Anyway, I see the point though. They can be replaced , and will be if the consensus is that they throw the base off. Thanks for the comment wizard!

I really like the diversity of plants on the base, it gives a rich and interesting atmosphere. The red flowers are cool but maybe it will look better if you mix them with some smaller ones? :) I look forward to seeing how the project develops!

Yeah that seems to be the consensus with those flowers. I have some relatively normal sized flowers, but the material is like a potpourri so not sure how they would look. Hmmmm. May have to sculpt something from scratch. I could also put a spider next to a sword here, or something like that. I think those flowers are unbalancing things tho, especially because I didn't paint them very well.

Added some strands of moss, will also put some vines down. My only concern is that the base is going to be too interesting and busy and the mini will get lost in it. Hope not...

I didn't like them at first but I knew you would change my mind with paint. I think they break up all the green and brown really well.
