::blink blink::I think the forest dinziens wasn't the big ass manticore Demi was thinking of haha. Well that was my initial thought when I saw the picture before reading first. That is one awesome sculpt though. Should be a really fun paint for you.

You hear that folks? Skel loves NMM.

Kidding. I actually already did a super fine glaze of blue to it. More visible on the top pic. I didn't want to overdo it and have it clash with the green that will be on his under armor.

Yes paint paint and paint some more until your actually holding UOUR eyeballs in your hand and saying to yourself how the hell did that get there ! iow paint so much that the models start painting you .. Lmao lol haha that's how I do it 90% done 10% left (drives/drabs) that's when you start on the next project directly and as your stating that you go back and fourth (new project/ last 10%.... New project / last10%) as a Matter of fact paint the manticore and brunhilde! Uou know your gonna keep saying " boy I wish that hot the manticore".. So he'll do em both! hell paint everything even your house whole your at it..:/

thats a really good looking sword! for being NMM ;)
next step would be some tinting of blues and/or browns and/or any other color.
I see some blue in that sword. :)

raging-figure: I love female figures, but this time I'd say manticore. Brunhilde's anatomy is bad, pose is pretty static and on this pic looks boring (maybe the shield and other weapon make it better, no idea), so as you said: a LOT of work remains on it.

base: something doesn't look right to me here. It' as if you have basecoated it, then immediately put on the grass and such, but forgot to shade / highlight it.

That sword.....wow! As to the figure, manticore for the win. The face reminds me of the Ifrit from FF8 (possibly 10...I don't know) which I loved and always thought he'd make a wicked miniature

No painting is ever finished, just abandoned (some famous guy said), i took it too literally and have a bucket load of almost there.... so go for it, do them all with great intention and join us on the road to hell... eek, maybe just finish off that wonderful elf, blade looks mighty, and no doubt there'll be another three or four to do options thrown in for the ultimate boiler buster ;)

First, thanks for the support all. There's more and more of you guys helping me out and it gives me the impetus to move forward with better and better painting. Not bad for my 2nd display piece (and maybe 6-7th overall) mini, eh?

Max, you are correct about the base. I base coated it and then applied some highs and washes, but it didn't look right. Then I applied some pigments, but I applied waaaay too much and it looked good when still wet but dried to look like...well, dried pigment powders. So I just base coated it again to start fresh, and put the grasses down with the knowledge that most of the base would be covered with grasses and such anyway. I think now I'll just take that base coat and add white to it, and areas that are exposed I'll lightly dry brush a highlight down. I think that's the best I can do. Good eye there Maxxxxx. I'll show you a pic here of the base under almost optimal lighting conditions. Still more to do on it. And please be aware that I am still going to highlight, pigment, shade, and add moss to the statue, branches, etc

Also pictured: If you don't like Brunhilde, maybe Skaryaa looks better to you?

Raging Heroes has a certain stylized, big-head-small-body proportion to a lot of their minis, especially the ladies. If you like the way Brunhilde looks, go for it. I personally like Skaryaa a bit better because I think Brunhilde's headpiece exaggerates the size of her head even more. But I actually think the manticore is pretty nifty, so if you're taking votes, mine goes there.

Also, your elf's sword came out amazing. Pretty, pretty NMM. *.*

Just finished reading your thread start to finish. Pretty much stunned to see such a crazy growth so fast. I'd be jealous if I wasn't so amazed and impressed by your courage to tackle such challenging stuff and push yourself! I've been painting much longer and just been laughing at seeing so many of the things I've struggled with or still do you've just pushed yourself through by sheer force of will and effort! Overworking an area, figuring out when to just move on to another figure to learn, spending far too many hours doing everything related TO painting but doing anything BUT putting brush to model. This is just what I needed to read to get a good start on painting tomorrow and updating my own thread here.

Also, I see you're in Olympia/Ft Lewis. I work in Tacoma and live in Gig Harbor. If you ever want do a painting get together (like it seems all these lucky Europeans get to experience with their classes and painting communities :) let me know. Would love to meet a fellow painter who's fairly local!

Keep on keeping on!

Ditto this. i like the way the base is coming and the spot of red adds style.

Scherdy, thank you for the über nice compliments. I have to say that I looked through your WIP for the first time as well, and your progression and many of your painting qualities are very similar to my own. A ton of people commented on your quick improvement, which is very noticeable as well. So we appear to have a lot in common, including our location. I would love to get together sometime for a paint sesh. What is your FLGS? Have you been to Comic and Cards in Olympia? Huuuuge store with a great selection. I'm in talks with the owner about starting a painting class there around once/week. Anyway, hope to bump into ya and thx again.

Certainly. Didn't know they made her in 54mm. Cool. If you go direct to RH they will have it in stock I believe. But yes will definitely let you know about the cast in advance.

Almost finished bud. I've been following a very I formative w I p you have. I cannot wait to see this thing break apart the voti g and average at least an 8.9 to a 9.0(average ) mine ... Well you know my vote I feel it's perfect and deserves a 10/10. And IM SURE I SPEAK FOR THE MAJORITY! Very elaborate base to coincide with a very beautifully done elaborate nmm on the drow!! Perfect balance m 8!!!

I'm not sure what it'll score tbh. Based on what I've seen of other pieces, it could be a wide range. I AM putting it on Putty&Paint however, so I am interested to see if it medals.

I am adding a couple little things here and there on the base that is really going to put it over the top, I think. Oh and I got the that Maagaan from Mierce in the mail already. Took 2 days!!! It came from FRP I believe. I test fitted him and he is going to be a true pleasure to paint. Yaaay...
