thanks all :)

Working on the other guard this weekend. To stay focused ive been bouncing back and forth on different parts of the minis. Not a very proffssional way but the only way (for me) to keep the squad painting mojo flowing.

No, but turning their Fantasy world into "Bubbles of reality that will collide with one another..." to bring about conflict certainly will be their ending. What nonsense. Who ever heard of such a dumb idea...

TBF we have no idea what the new fantasy system will be, but I cannot see them binning armies that they only in the last 5 years have spent hundreds of thousands making steel moulds for, big changes yes, but you will still be able to play with your stuff, with some tweaks.

Fantasy is doomed....or is it...etc.

usual BoLs clickbait, fantasy is about to go through a big overhaul come summer this year, many forsee the end of it all and all armies being squatted. This IS NOT happening, but some stuff may be removed, rulkes changed but nothing is going to be fully invalidated, i.e. D.elves, High elves etc will just become ELVES but models can still be used. They will make new ones maybe but they aren't about to tell a 3rd of their customer base 'Tough Titty' sell all your stuff.

True and not true. I think it's going to be a little worse off than you are imagining. A lot of it is more than rumor at this point in the game. There are pics of published storyline that have been pirated that show what the post end times, 9th Edition fantasy game will be. And it's not pretty. Fact: The world is destroyed. All that remains are "pockets of reality" in an otherwise primordial sea of nothingness. To explain how the elves and human might meet on the battlefield in such a universe, it is described as these pockets colliding with each other. Yep. That's right. Ugh.

If you are a Lizardman fan, you won't have a place in WHF anymore. Humans are now one race, the ogres are with humans. I can't remember but I think dwarves may be out too. It was 2 factions that are gone. There are actually lists out of what models are going to make the cut for 9th edition. However, the lists are incomplete so it's tough to say what survives. Archaion will not survive 8th Ed.

For us painter, non-gamer types, it's actually a good deal. GW is going to release far more characters than units, as 9th will be a skirmish type game. But models will be released on very limited runs, so they'll produce a larger variety and won't hang onto models for years and years. This sounded cool to me as a painter.

But it say you bought a Brettonian Army. How much of that Army will actually be usable in the new Army of Light, which now consists of ogres, the Empire, and Bretonnians? GW is looking at it from the perspective of there loyal fans already have their armies and now they are stagnant. They have little to lose by capitalizing more on newer players. They are doing this by lowering the entry costs, but by finding ways to keep veterans spending over time. Or do they have little to lose? In such a Nonesense world, I see this as the beginning of the end.

Or it could be whats needed to pick up a dying franchise.

Warhammer was almost canned about 3 years ago apparently, but they improved things in terms of upgrading miniatures and are now moving the story on, in temrs of the end times and now 9th.

However to kill of Dwarfs, some of the elves and lizardmen (3 of the most recent update releases in the game) would be a massive financial bath for GW, the costs of designing and manufacturing all of that then canning it within 3 years is madness, and to suddenly say, "Oh that £350 army you just bought, nae luck, its now useless" would be very bad for continued play, and I would imagine create a lot of antagonised people, probably shouting in store, which the company wont want.

At the moment, all of the rumours are just that, Yes some of them are from relatively reliable sources, but so was the rumour of the 'black box' being released at warhammer fest that was DEFINATELY going to be a new 28mm skirmish game based on inquisitors....this was a 'certainty'. Warhammer fest came....no box appeared. People are desperate for 'their rumours' to be the right one, at the moment, I am going to wait and see, I am gluing my 3k of drak elves together and hoping for the best, as long as I can play with them bar a little tweaking, I don't mond.

However at this point I have heard everything from a new 'Fantasy space marine type faction, everything dead bar one box of infantry, HQ, monster for each faction that's staying with upgrade options in each box, the death of brets, dwarfs, all elves as they currently stand, tomb kings and vampires. So that's leaving, humans, orcs, skaven and chaos.....that will be popular then! No, I am going to wait and see, we have heard the doom of all things before, especially with 7th edition 40k.

Change may come but I cant see GW basically shiving their loyal customers out of hundreds of pounds of stuff, because they wont come back, and they wont be too keen to tell the next generation about what a fun game it is. As this does currently happen, our store gets some 60 odd kids in of a sunday learning the 3 main systems, but to kill it all off I cant see it, big change yes, but still at its heart warhammer.

Anyway....mahoosively off Lee's topic! Sorry.

I've had to switch brands since I can't get Raphaels or W&N any more here in Canada. That said, I really like the Escoda brushes I have been trying :)
