Are you heading back to Project Nurgle - Gutrot Spume now ? Or something else in the pipeline ?

Did you buy many enticing mini's at Salute ?

Thanks for all the congratulations!

....can I have your autograph?
You couldn't afford it now the success has gone to my head

It's back to project Nurgle. There is a lot to do on Gutrot & his base and I don't want to feel rushed! I displayed a will of iron and resisted the urge to buy any new minis! I've several projects on the back burner and my purchases are focused on those. I also have more goodies on the way via the Infamy kickstarter and a steampunk Egyptologist that I ordered on impulse on the Thursday before Salute (Steampunk & Egyptology - how could I resist!). I've plenty to do without adding to the pile of unpainted grey!

Ah yes. As one of your complete Fanboys, I read an interview with you recently where you mentioned that you got back into the hobby by painting some of you interests. Then I remembered seeing a lot of Egypt stuff in your gallery and on your blog and so I naturally put the two together. That being said, a Steampunk Egyptologist sounds beyond cool. From whence did you find such a mini?

Sebastian Archer posted a link on Facebook. The mini is Carter, the intrepid archaeologist from the Twisted steampunk miniature game. 25 copies were available as a pre-sale exclusive

The mini is right up my street!

Yes, I picked up half of the Twisted line recently when I begged Mr Archer to sell me what he could. Carter is cool. I've got the Unicycle guy and also the Lancelot mini, which I started on but have put away due to lack of inspiration. I'm thinking I may paint Dodger (the unicycle guy) next though. Lovely line of minis that I am excited to see you paint.

It looks amazing, it seems a real frog!! And the base is magnificent looks like a little pieces of earth freshly sliced and put in there.
If I had to point out something, I can only think of the frog skin adding a bit more of shine, I mean humidity on the skin, maybe?... but it is excellent!!

Edited for adding this:
Oh, I just read a few moments ago the article on yout blog, and I can see and understand your reasons about the shininess, on the other hand the "little" changes you made are adding even more positive points to the overall scene.

Can you enlighten me as to where you got, or more likely how you made that moss growth on the wood ?

The moss is by miniNatur. They produce it in a good range of colours and it's an excellent product for basing as it will also work as grass at smaller scales. I've looked into a few ways of making moss but haven't yet found one I prefer over these moss pads.

Wow! Best in show! That is quite the accomplishment, congratulations Sproket! Guess I better nip over to the blog and see what tweaks you made. So glad Squarg got some well deserved recognition!

It's back to 'Project Nurgle' for me. I painted this tentacle (from Gutrot's base) to get back up to speed with my nautical Nurgle palette. I painted the tentacle over the bank holiday weekend but it's taken an age to build up the water effects and varnish.

I found that the first coat of gloss varnish went down onto the Scale colour paint very badly! It resulted in a patchy, uneven and almost rough finish. The scale colour seems to be slightly absorbent and I think this caused the problems. Subsequent coat of varnish have gone down fine but I'm having to build up quite a heavy layer to overcome the initial problems. It's something to watch out for.
