Holy hell.... Those Ork tanks look amazing! That's exactly how I'd want Orks to turn out if I were to paint some. Love the vibrancy of the colors coming through despite the amount of paint that has scraped off of the armor plates!!

for a start, i went to the "tank GD" in warhammer world and i thank god one of my goals with the trip was to visit wh museum and have a look at the place, as the event itself was a tragedy. 45 paid visitors and about 20 entries in total. youngblood had ONE entry which was tragic in more than one way.

i didnt win anything, though, people seemed surprised i didnt but in all honestly the whole event was a farse and i didnt really care at that point. the winning pieces was all in a more classic GW/FW theme so i aint surprised.

This kinda sums up a couple of other people's responses I've read.....being honest the only positive reviews I've seen were from 'Diehard' GW fanboys.
All in All I think this is a shame as GW and Golden Deamon have encouraged some brilliant pieces being produced.

Anyhow to stop knocking GW an move onto something positive those Grot Tanks of Yours are great!

Hi Skell, Those Grot tanks are lovely, especially the pinky\purply one, a nice tone in an odd setting :)

Shame to hear about GW, and even though i am in the UK its still some 400+ miles and 7 hours to get to nottingham, and not doing that for every mini GD!

Even though i am working on a librarian as a poss comp piece, and Space Marine is the next one, 5 weeks notice is no where near enough.

such a shame.

We still have Salute and Euro in the UK as the big shows though :)

Looooooooove the snot holding the cigarette :good:
Im going to the next mini GD in October to see if anything improves. I hear that these 'mini' GDs are a trial to see if GW can stage multiple events instead of a main event in the future as their Nottingham HQ carnt hold a main event due to size limitations. I feel the major problem (which I pointed out to the main man at the GD winners day) is GW just dont give enough time / details before each event. Minis can take months to paint and with traveling arrangements + jobs, costs etc it all adds up to poor turn out.

I've been toying up with going to Notts for GD, but coming from Cornwall for a small event is kind of off putting especially with the amount of planning and money it takes. If it was a once a year, two day event I would be all over that. I feel that most ppl have the same view

thanks friends i got loads of nice feedback of my tanks, both from other painters and guys of the eavy metal team. seemed like everybody loved them but the judges, just my luck! lol

yep the short time notice is the major flaw as i see it, if i go to more of these events i want to have more than one entry and thats a hard nut to crack in 2 months for me. and even if i do manage to make 2+ entries i damn sure want a competition better than this. As i saw it, it wasnt really much glory in winning one of the demons there, even if oc the winning entries was great.

GW staff were calculating 45 tickets bought and estimated around 2 entries per visitor, aprox 70 entries in total. seems like most people just went there to hang out lol

I am in 2 minds about going to the one on the 18th but the issue is i would need to take Monday off to get home for work and i dontr have the leave available now due to constraint of having to be in england for 8 days for wedding registrar sign up (need to stay overnight in england for 7 nights! because 'foreign')

Hmm

a new Xaphan banner ive been working on for my khornated-ogryn-dog-pack-squad, much happier with this one. unfortunately i also need to paint something on the back of the banner, but that is just going to be a chaos star pretty much like the old banner

And there he is, back with the magic banners. Love seeing what you do bud, and its a shame those tanks didnt win you anything. The thought behind them and mud spewing out are creative genius to me.

It looks pretty amazing nevertheless, very well executed.

I'm often amazed where people get the inspiration to come up with these fantastic designs, but it always boils down to visual education
