HHere's another helpful tidbit of info...I use it every time I paint a face it's from Ben komets tutorials,and was forwarded to me me by my friends and colleagues on here ,Bailey03 ,and canny .now I'm giving it to you.along with it are a few examples of this technique used and incorporated into my work .View attachment 41184

Every time I think if a tip that's practical and can be "immediately implemented" ill come on and type it in. Now I want to be clear saying you DO NOT have to do it on this bust. Anytime a model or bust 's head is turned then the eye (iris and pupil) should be fit this as well . So her head turned to the left and here eyes should be leading the movement by looking in that same Direction!!!

I am a very lucky girl to have been "adopted" by you and all of these other amazing artists.

I get what you're saying about the eyes and I did consider doing that with her. My reasoning for having her looking straight ahead in that direction is that it felt like she'd already turned and was now focused on something coming that way.

I must confess that I will sometimes make a choice about a model's paint job based on a backstory that has developed in my head while I'm working on it.

I thin my paints with the tears of failure and flog myself with old brushes tied to the cord of my travel sized hair drier. Also screaming incoherently at my paints and brushes makes them work better -_-

Hehe. If that's the case then I should be fine Dragonsreach. :) I come with my own brand of crazy.

It really has been a great experience on CMON. Reminds me that people are generally pretty awesome.

If you go for a warm skintone it's sometimes interesting to replace the grey/blue tone with a green one. Olive green and olive drab being my favourites. The grey/blue tones work better for cold faces in my opinion because of the contrast with more red on the nose and earlobs.

Hi Gino. Thanks for popping in. I've actually used an olive green in one of my shade colours (I've been playing since the last set of photos were taken) and I quite like the result so far.

^ this. I also sold my soul to the devil one dark and stormy night. Regrettable due to a slightly mumbled request I am now a painting Cod. True story

New Brushes!

Hello everyone. My new brushes arrived in the post today! Well, 3 of 5 did anyway.

I was tired of having to bin my cheap brushes after only one or two minis because they lost their points (and I do look after my brushes - they get cleaned religiously with Masters Brush Cleaner). So I decided to invest in some good quality brushes. I did some research and settled on Raphael 8404 Kolinsky sables in sizes 2, 1, 0, 2/0 and 3/0. The first three are the ones that have arrived. :D :brushwave: :D

To be honest I'm a little nervous about using them now that they've arrived. But that will pass as soon as I settle down for a painting session tonight I'm sure.

What brushes and sizes do you guys prefer?

I like rapheal, and W& N, the long bristles not the mini ones. They have been hard to come by so i tried escoda too and they are nice, but have more snap than i am used to. You want to be careful with the brush cleaner. You can over do it with the washing and actually cause the brushes to lose their shape. I tend to use 2 water cups one for cleaning and another for rinses. That is usually enough. I only clean my brushes with the soap once every few sessions.

BTW, nice progresson the bust. It has been nice to find your wip.
