Streller job on this one shelagh. This weather the 8th or the 108th it's painted to a very high standard. This is something to be proud of. What's next!?

:bashful: Glad you like him BAM. :) I'm only counting until I hit ten - I promise. :D

Next project is the GW giant I bought the other day - who wgs has kindly helped me name Bigun. :D In between assignments this weekend.

Thank you

I'm glad you guys seem to like how my Nurgle Lord turned out. I'm quite chuffed with him. Your advice, comments and suggestions have been a great source of help and more than a little amusement.

And for my next trick...

Although the weekend has been largely dominated by assignments, friends visiting from overseas and a sick man I did manage to get some painting done. What is this sleep of which you speak?

I've been working on Bigun's skin - again exploring how the different colours interact as they're layered. In the pictures he's almost at the midtone and I'm going to be coming in with the shadow colours and highlights. I even managed to get his eyes done without redoing them twenty times!

He's quite a big mini, so the pics aren't brilliant because he's in shadow, but you'll still get an idea of where I'm going I hope.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! :D

There comes a time once every year when I can still accomplish such a feat, then I spend the rest of the year trying to catch back up.

@Digga - That's probably because we're a similar age. :)

I am however a natural night owl. I am not a "cheerful wake up at the crack of dawn" person. I'd rather sleep until at least 8am and then be up until 2/3am. But this past few days has been ridiculous - even by my standards!

Great start on Bigun looks like it should be a very rich skin tone

Thanks wgs - I'm still playing and figuring out the best way for me to approach painting skin. So far it seems that building up to a nice almost midtone with the idea of where shadows and highlights will be works for me. We'll see how it goes - have a few tattoo design ideas that will need to be added soon before I get too excited with highlighting etc.

a good trick with tattoo's is to put a thin glaze of the skintone over the top of them to make them look in the skin, look forward to seeing your freehand work

I'm glad one of us is! :tremble:

I've had a look at a couple of tutorials and they recommend your piece of advice as well as mixing a tiny amount of the skin tone into the tattoo colour. Of course, it also depends on how old and faded you want the tattoo to look.

Don't worry arc. I set the bar pretty low on freehand, just wait and you will see some of my skaven banners later.

I do indeed - it's a great phrase and you'll hear it quite often, along with "awesomesauce". :D

We can only hope so. :) It's funny how something you did easily before can suddenly be a problem on a different mini - it happens with anything you learn, but I guess it keeps things interesting!

What BAM said. The skin is looking really nice too.

Thanks Moe - so far so good. Just finished yet another assignment and I'm contemplating starting on a tattoo, but I'm not sure how awake I am.

Who am I kidding? Of course I'm going to leap in! Results may be interesting. :)
