Does anyone have any tips or tricks on painting leather?

I would like to get an aged, cracked textured effect.

Lots of tutorials there. From Tutofig, I found the following to be particularly good.

They recommend a light brown base color and even lighter hash markings on the edges, and then bring it all down with a sepia tone wash. I used it on a Bones cloud giant which has thick leather straps, with excellent results.

Some nice leather tips here, will be needing these shortly, may do a test on some cardboard or something first before I commit it to a figure
