Gratitude
We interrupt our usual programming of paint splattering experiments and thread hijackings to get a little serious for a moment....
Having been away from painting and trying to be good in staying away from the forums I've got something I want to say.
My list of top favourite things goes as follows (in no particular order): my boyfriend, cats, angels, friends, books (reading and writing), painting, family and you guys.
I probably would've loved miniature painting anyway, but being accepted as part of this great community by you all and making friends here has just been an amazing experience. You have (and I'm sure will continue to) taught me so much and put up with my questions and more than occasional silliness.

Well then may I just say (and I think I speak for everyone here) how disappointed we all are that we came after angels in your list. Sure, you can get thousands of them to dance on the head of a pin, but can any of them paint scarab eyes on a pinhead in true metallics like Tero can? I think not.

So much for speed painting...
Real Life has been mildly distracting, but I have managed to get some painting done. Here's where I am at the moment with the "quick" Empire Battle Mage practice mini:

He's one of the first miniatures that I primed so he's a bit grainy in parts, but it's not as noticeable as it is in these extreme closeups.
I decided to have fun with bright colours on him. So that should be interesting.
I started on the robes because they're tough to get at and was just working on the shading etc when it occurred to me that there was no way I could paint his face, hair and beard without running a high risk of getting paint on the robes. So I switched gears to work on those areas and have only just started building up his skin.
Brush control is a little rusty, but getting smoother. Hell, I even managed to get his eyes done without too much fuss.
Stay tuned.
