    Gloss from Dull Cote

I tried to bring this up in another Dull Cote thread, but it seems it got ignored due to the thread title. Anyways... It seems so0me practice pieces I sprayed with dull cote have picked up a light gloss finish... Did i use too much? too little? I think I used 2-3 sprays\\passes, at random...

    Your Favorite Table Top Game

Well, I searched a bit and I didn\'t find a thread on this... I\'m sure there was one though in the past... Anyways... Just wondering what all the CMON\'ers think about table top games... I would like to get into one, and am looking for a simplistic game that is dynamic and fun... something...

    Dry Brushing

I was just wondering if there are any advanced ways to use dry brushing? For the most part I\'ve only used it for terrain, and using undiluted paint... Should paint ever be thinned for dry brushing? Any certain brushes optimized for dry burhs usage? (synthetic I assume?)

    Tracer Fire

I was wondering if there has ever been much success with miniature art, and adding live fire, such as tracers, lazers, rockets, etc... I\'ve definitly seen rocket fire and such, but I don\'t think i\'ve ever been totally WOW\'ed! and I\'ve seen a bunch of Shawns OSL gun fire, which is very...

    Request: Differences between modeling \"clays\"

This is a request for basically a short summary (or confirmation) about modeling puddy or clay... Greenstuff (AKA Kneadite?) - cures at room temp. Is not easily filed\\sanded. Is flexible after curing. The best for filling gaps and minor conversions??? Very gummy when sculpting with...

Using modeling sand for the base

I dont have experience with modeling sand, but I am wondering it wil \"cheapen\" the look of the base... So far I have a cracked desert path leading from my mini on the base, but I was going to surround the path and mini with sand. Any idea\'s on how well sand mixes with other terrain types...

    Dullcote: Before and AFter pics

Does anyone have examples of a mini before and after Testor\'s dullcote? I\'m trying to figure out how much \"over-highlighting\" I should do... maybe some under shading? over under

    Straightening legs.

Straightening legs... Is there any GOOD way to straighten SM or Chaos Marine legs? They\'re always spaced out and bent at the knees... And even with straightened legs, the feet are bent in a calf stretch position... same goes for Tau firewarriors! bah! just brainstorming for now...

    Testors Spray Enamel Primer

I just bought a small can of that stuff, Flat Gray Primer 1237... anyone know anything about it? Also, Testors Dull Cote which everyone uses is 1260, right? EDIT: I finally used this. And its true, it does go on a bit heavy. With my GW primer, I kind of slowly sweep over the mini. But...

    Dry Paint.

Question: You apply thin layer of paint. You watch as the paint has a wet\\shiny look, that slowly shrinks away. When that \"wet\" look has ~dissolved~... is the paint fully dried? Or dare I wait additional seconds?

    Starting out Sculpting.

Hello, I\'m pondering the start of sculpting... I looked at my OLD OLD Mechwarrior 2 game, and noticed all the mechs are made of nice simple polygons. I figure I could draw out the shapes, then compare them to Battletech minis I have to keep the scale correct. From there, sculpt the body...

    Creating cracked wasteland terrain.

I swear I saw an article or thread on here about making a desert wasteland terrain.. with like cracked earth. Or like the dried up pond look. Am I imagining this?

    Mixing colors vs... not, mixing?

Hmm, poorly titled thread. Basically, something I have been trying is really limiting my palette of colors. On top of that.. I try to eliminate different color mixes by applying thinned layers of individual colors. Hmm, to make this more clear, lets say I want my red to end up in an orange...

    Rinsing water quality.

back to my usual chalky painting with only water brain storming... I use distilled water for diluting. But tap water for rinsing... I never let my rinse water get cloudy with paint... maybe slightly tinted, but I wouldnt even say murky. Perhaps as tap water its bad? I would say no, because...

    Small matter near the ferule.

Quick question. Often times after a painting session, I find a very small amount of grey near the ferule of my brush... or maybe its so small it just looks grey... Anyways, I usually drag my X-acto knife gently across the brush hairs in a upward perpendicular motion, which seems to scrape away...

    Adding Inks to your paint

Does anyone here add inks to their paint much? I\'ve been finding it makes it much easier to get coverage with very thinned paint. ie. I add 1 drop of green ink to catachen green, heavily thinned and it covers much better... really just looking for thoughts on the matter.

    Flo-Improver vs Medium

Hello, I see that a lot of people here tend to use W&N flo enhancer here for things such as glazes and what not. I in fact use it as well. But my question is, what about matte\\glaze mediums? From my understanding, a medium would be better suited for glazes than a flo enhancer. The flo...

    Disassembling Plastiques.

    Bubbles

How evil are bubbles in mini painting? I know bubbles that form when applying the paint to the mini are awful. But what about when mixing dilution\\paint on the pallette? What do they signal? Finally, I noticed that my GW white paint pot, has many bubbles on the surface of the paint... I...
