Thanks all :)

Mike - Lets hope your dream comes true, I can deal with the fail but poor old Andy takes it bad and comfort eats ... he he ;)

Thanks Aniku :) - Yes everyone should paint the greenknight once, its a milestone mini in GW history. As for painting fast...... I dont! Its just that I put shit loads of hours in. Usually in the early hours so I can still have time with the family. Ive been know to get up at 3am and paint to 6am then go to work. I asked Nakatan how he so damn good at painting, his reply "I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint, I paint.

I also think the key is that im never happy with any of my minis, this leads to a hunger to do better painting.

Sooooooo on to the knight, ive comprised with the banner, reduced it and in turn lost some of the 'framing' I was trying to acheive. Still works so im happy.

Have you no need for sleep?!! Dammit... sometimes I am jealous of those with a true workaholic sleep need, i.e. 3-4 hours... Me, if I get any second less than 7 straight hours, I'm a pale zombie who's only shuffling around on cafeine... And since I tend to be in bed by 11 and up at 05:50 to be in the office at 7, this is an almost daily occurence.

Your Green Knight is awesome, and I totally agree with the sentiment it's a classic model. I would love to give it a go...but far in the future when I feel I could do it (at least a bit of) justice. Can't believe you aren't happy with your minis ha, maybe you need to get a bit more sleep..

i suffer from the same syndrome, never totally happy. or, i always find areas that can be improved. think all my "finished" minis are at 99,9% done. i often feel it more disheartening than as a motivator though.

i should also paint the green knight sometime. inspiring! :)

Looks great dude!

I too have the lack of sleep issue. If you look at my thread postings, they are all over the place. I have to be up at 4 am for work, but I'm rarely actually in bed before 1am. The reasons are plenty, from sleep apnea to terrible nightmares, but this always leaves time to paint. My doc actually ordered me to paint after a nightmare, to get my mind off of it. It's nice to say sometimes, "Sorry honey, doctor's orders" while I am painting.

Your Green Knight has totally lived up to the promise it was showing in the earlier stages it ROCKS!
I think my favorite bit, apart from everything, is the colour scheme. The green/orange contrast is really striking with out being too loud. Overall this piece is great work all round!

Are there still some rusty spears and swords that need blending?

Also, maybe something like this wrapped around the streamer? Of course would need to be very light or very dark to stand out....

Yep still lots to do on the skeles and various other parts.
Good idea with the vine but im leaving the streamer well alone now, its been a challenge to say the least :)

That looks EPIC. What's the story with the Green Knight? Why is he significant for GW?
Not too sure about the relationship with GW but the Green Knight is a Victorian adaption of the Green Man mythology into the Arthurian legend.
Blame Malory and the Morte D'Arthur for it...........Bleeding Nightmare for thousands of Schoolboys, like me, doing English Literature

Yep. The Bretonnian story is steeped in Arthurian lore. The Lady in the Lake, for instance. Also an exceptionally feudal society, with a robust, extremely poor peasantry led by a noble class of near Demi-God attributes. Makes for some good reading.

Everybody who paints the Green Knight should read Lyonesse by Jack Vance :) Not that there's an actual green knight in it but the book is the perfect flavour and atmosphere of Arthurian Bretonia

My favourite trilogy proper high fantasy with a dark twist. In fact Jack Vance is right up there with Gene Wolf Michael Moorcock Poul Anderson and Stephen Donaldson IMHO.
