Orc is looking fantastic!! Really digging the greens and pink on the feet and belly.
Makes me want to throw my version in the trash haha.

Honestly great job on him. Looking forward to seeing this guy on the gallery.

Great work, love those pink details. I think this will be copied a lot in the future. Since this is a fantasy universe, can't there be a Leopard which has the patern on both sides of the skin? What I want to say is that we don't need to think too much about those kind of things. For that there are historical figures?

Cheers,

Yep, transition between colors is much better now, and I like that you've worked it up into his neck.

Ork mum: "Brutus, I've finished that two-sided leopard skin loincloth you wanted!" :)

Cheers all.
Redid the snow on gandalf using crushed glass. Bit of a learning curve using it for the first time, i mixed way too much. :disapointed:
also painted a green reflection on the dwarf axe head ready for the orc.

Love the use of the pink on the mini and the belly looks much better. How did you find the glass? I'd like to do a snow and ice base at some point

(note - sproket has done a very good guide to snow effects on his blog)

After a lot of experiments I can conclude that -

1. Do NOT use GW snow effect, terrible, just white static grass. :(
2. bicarb with water effect - good but after a few months goes yellow :(
3. crushed glass with water effect + spot of white paint depending on how white / slushy you want your snow - perfect :)

Dont use gloss varnish, goes yellow after time.

Thanks for the snow update. Isn't crushed glass a bit dodgy, you need a face mask, right ?
I wonder what the Woodland Scenic snow is like.
Looking at how this is developing, it is becoming apparent that you are also developing, just when I thought you had hit the mountain top you go a bit further.

I'm actually a man!
Yes, wear a suitable mask, glass in lungs = x_x

Other option is something called micro balloons, its a filler for resin, again a resin based silica dust, so you know...PPE!

I've never experienced that bicarbonate turn yellow but I mix it only with wooden glue, I think it's by far the most realistic way to do it. I've experimented some with glass also but I don't think it looked as good...
Don't mix it with baking powder though!

Inspirational ten, love your Ork! I'll post some pictures of my version as soon as I get home... Sort of :)

I've used the micro balloons a couple of time and was always pleased with the result. Do wear some kind of filter for your lungs, it's realy harmfull!

Cheers,
