Just checked out the dwarf and orc project, looking spectacular. Funny as I have the same orc waiting in my project box, but will be running down an Empire pistoleer (that orc is a perfect duel subject I think). Really interesting to see what you've done with the skin tones, my plans are very different, but I love what you've done!

Love all the subtle additional colours and markings on this one, are you going for a flint style axe head ? If you do and come up with a good colour mix please post !:fingers-crossed:

Splendid work there mate your in the zone on this one! Looking at the hands the knuckles seem just a tad too pop with the pink maybe a little bit of red glaze between the metacarpal's just to bring it together?

this is by far the best duel you've done. Get it finished for Euro.

OH COME ON! Saliva....really, then freckles. What are you going to paint next, air into his lungs. Good lord this guy is amazing.

funny how different this orc model look with different paintjob :) love the loincloth, its ace. the freckles isnt something id chose personally but guess it works. cant wait to see it IRL :)

I really like it. The amount of saliva is just credible, and the round spot is ace. How many attempts did you burst? xD

I like the skin, the freckles and the double sided cheetah pelt ^^

looks awesome dude I second Andy's observation about the knuckles. also maybe a tiny green glaze over the green/pink transition on the sole of the foot. TBH That's nit picking though

Thanks all :)

Nearly finished now. Got to sort orcs standing foot out and a few other things, why GW sculpted the orcs toes on the base is a mystery and a pain! Glazed over the knuckles as suggested.

Wargames - the axe head is a mix of a few greys with purple in the dark shadows. I referenced some flint picts and noticed purples and blues in the stone colours.

*** NOTE TO BEGINNERS *** DONT USE HAIR DRYER AFTER APPLYING STRINGS OF VARNISH FOR SALIVA - They all melted away :( redone but my ocd is telling me not as good ?

Lovely lovely lovely!

Ok OCD is correct but no point messing leave it.

Lichen patches and stuff on the rocks? Just a bit more texture on the base in desaturated colours I would suggest mate.

cheers skel.

Andy (will give you a ring tonight mate - missed your call - phone was on charge upstairs)
theres loads of the green moss already thats not showing up very good on the photo. Im going to give a technique that sproket told me about (that he has used on his nurgle) a try.
Using bi carb (like when doing snow) but painting it green after dry, it fits much better in terms of scale if you need finer areas of moss.

on another note, after using milliput for the base on this duel I STRONGLY RECOMMEND to everyone to scrap the use of cork or wood chip stlye bases and sculpt from now on.
So much more control over the look and concept of the mini. Also you can get the mini to place better instead of looking like its just stuck on top (if you get my meaning?!)

On the marine ive sculpted a volcanic 'style' rock by using a real rock for impressing on the surface. Marine fits much better that trying to stick it on top of a real rock imo.
