All done, great Easter break paint :)
Top mini from Rackham and perfect for TMM practice. Tons of problems from start to finish, not least the base which I had to move the wall back because it was way to close to the mini. (school boy error). The best solution for the floating brick was a small brick underneath I think?

This project was a success and fail on lots of levels for me. I am pleased with the TMM (which was the exercise) and the material pattern on the reds looks ok but is hard to photo. There is something wrong with the whole balance & look of the mini/base that Im not sure of. Anyway cheers for looking :)

i must say that the base lack some of that crisp the mini got, you know like you slightly pressed the "blur" button in photoshop ;) some sharper highlight would probably solv that problem. to me, it look a bit too gw-washed...

still a great piece, of course!

really nice work 10ball. Admire you for going out the comfort zone and other areas of your painting will benefit as a result.

Great looking mini. I agree that something is not quite right with the base, maybe skel has it right about the crispness. All in though another notch has been added to your painting measure stick!

Onwards

Cheers all :)

With all my searching on ebay for those plague marines I found this classic 1992 rogue trader termi captain for 99p :)
Thought I would paint as a pick me up after the highs & lows of durak.

Very nice blue. I also like the mini before a lot although the base don't quite fit it. Never the less, you did a great job on the metal.

HA, now I am jealous! :D I love this marine, it seems like a decade ago I saw him in one of the first rule books. The blue looks very good so far, please don't weather him, give him a good, clean, classy, shiny armor! :D

Thanks all :)

@ Crackpot - yes going with a classic clean old school GW paint job, just like way back in 1992 (when I wish I could of painted him like this but instead he looked like I had dropped him in a tin of blue emulsion).

Bit more done, skulls still need work.

You have a done a great job on this mini so far and the freehand looks very oldschool. :)
I just would go with a different hair color, but thats a matter of taste. Keep going!
