10 balls WIP

Looks gray to me, with a hint of blue because it's fantasy and it makes it look more vibrant. A dull gray would not be fitting. He is a beaut. Remember his Elven sword from the hobbit. It is very chrome like. Be sure to make it nice and shiney. Don't think I'd add much of a colored glaze at the end.

Trees are great. Recently bought some Sea moss myself from pk pro. Highly reccomend it. Also, bonsai trees are great for bases. There are local bonsai gardens where I live and they are happy to part with their dead ones. I'd like to do a tree in all white or maybe pink. Can you point me to some good flocking mate? Similar to what you used on your time/mirror project. Thx! BtW hope you take that one to GD.

Thanks BOK :) Im always getting flock / scatter off ebay, just small bags to try - esp the 000 gauge railway stuff.

Milosh - from Euromilitaire, chap was selling plinths, I reckon he had just made a few trees up himself to sell on the day.

Gandalf - no its the black & white set, ive painted over a shadow grey base coat with glazes so the blues are showing through.

...as silk :) Lovely blends , almost nmm clothing, i think your highlights need no more and there's an awful lot of Gandalfs with bleached out staffs etc, this is mellow, the warm shades in the beard are lovely. i find lotr swords bit of a pain to do anything with in tmm, will u go down the nmm route, possibly more appealing but may clash with his attire? top notch

I was pondering the same, Dennis.. I think the key is to maximize the white, or damn near white, in the sword, and to make light gray the darkest shade on the sword. This way it appear uber shiney like IRL and stands out from the robes. But Ten will likely blow all of our minds with some off the wall -ish.

Really smooth blending & lovely subtle colours in Gandalf's robes. I particularly like the simplicity of the warm/cool contrasts going on between the different areas. The Tree base rocks! Is that for Gandalf - he's gonna be awesome!
My only criticism is that, as usual, you are painting far too quickly for my liking.

Nice progress mate, very subtle blending.
Sproket he uses the slap the paint technique which he doesn't share with the rest of us for the speed !

Wow 10. Every time I come to your thread you manage to have a surprise up your sleeve!! By the way you're improving, I have to begin to put a pillow under my chin to prevent it hurting from hitting the floor ;)

I love the way this looks, probably the best Gandalf I have seen, or the best I have seen me look !!!
I like that the hat is of similar tone and not the blue hat that contrasts the grey robes on the GW version.
