Thoroughly enchanting work. I've been starring at them for ages now.
what surprises me is the large highlight on the Middle one left elbow, it goes against the grain for highlighting as I know it, but works beautifully. One for the memory bank.

Silk can have large areas of high contrast you've got to get the blending right and then it's very effective

Yeah! I really want to experiment with painting some stuff to look like high gloss paint. I did it on My Joan of Arcs black shoulder pad and it looked pretty good. I think really tight blending is key. The NMM stuff has more of shimmer to it as opposed to deep gloss. Sort of what like what my car looks like in this picture:

Did you trim your beard Demi!? pretty sweet ride, its not a 4x4 but the gloss is fantastic. plenty of elbow grease.

Thanks wargames :)

Gandalf - hmmm didnt take any picts, will have to sort out next time. It was just a case of freehand swirls on a matt background colour then toning them back with washes.

Andy - no its sculpted with the set. I filed off alot of the symbols just leaving the sword and moon.

looking good - very good!
It's just a thought and possibly a bad one but maybe you could pick out all the moon icons on the armour & banner in silver/white. It might add a bit of variety to the blue/gold colour scheme without shaking it up too much.

Beautiful banner! You make it sound easy enough to try. Is there any color variation in the freehand marks before you start applying washes?

Thanks canny

Sproket, I was talking to Andy about painting the whole elf silver but thought it would be overkill , but your idea might work well, will give it a try on the banner and see.

Siomid- This banner was a single colour, with glazes over but when I paint a pattern again Im going to paint a darker colour first then highlight over as I feel this will give a more realistic look. And will take double the time :)

Cheers epic :)

Nice one! No flaming skulls huh? I like Sproket's idea. Also you might try to go back in and add more pattern where the banner wraps around the cross bar. Not sure if that is already on the to do list.

Yes me neither. It's what kept me from buying some of the ForgeWorld Empire Command groups right away. Though I suppose if you don't like them, it's an easy fix. Regardless, agree that you made it work well, Ten. I can't help but feel it needs something to the left and right of the golden blade. Something to balance it out. Right now it's a very vertical piece because the same size blade repeats above the banner. Maybe two opposing crescent moons on either side of the golden sword? Just a suggestion to make awesome more awesomer. :)
