Wow that's quiet a difference. To be fair Your original is still really accomplished but the better blends and all the extra effects and little details really do elevate the new one. I really love the use of the purple tint to the gold, it really adds to the alien, sinister appearance to him

Consent exactly our idea. Skills development can be seen clearly, but beautiful work on both.

Hi, I'm Sigvald and I have Direct TV.
And I'm far less artistically painted Sigvald, and I have cable :(
Just occurred to me that you Brits won't get this reference. Check this out for a laugh and to see what I mean by Lee's paint job being DirectTV and Cable. Hehehehe

Really interesting comparison:laugh:. Video is very cool. But you're too hard on yourself.

Sigvald's looking good. The comparison shot is so great. Sometimes I wonder how great painters stay motivated, so it's heartening to see a really good painter (you in 2012) making dramatic leaps over the last few years, to the point where you are consistently producing inspiring work.
I still think that the hare would kick his ass, though.

cheers all :)
Andy kindly sent me this as an addition to my chaos squad. I will be following similar colours as Persifals miniature, which he has been very helpful in pm me some of the mix :good:

Been using a 'loaded' brush technique for blending on the nmm gold which im finding much quicker than normal blending but still keeping a high standard imo.

Sorry I was ment to add that!
Loaded brush is having the base mix colour on the brush then dipping the tip into the highlight colour (just a tiny tiny spot). As you add the highlight the base colour comes through as you blend. Takes a bit of getting use to but it's well worth it :)

The gold looks fantastic Ten. I'm loving the loaded brush technique, very fast and very nice results. Can't wait to see the rest of the sorcerer

Balor brown? that seems most like the colour you've got? and did you have a mix of the browns on the base of your brush and add pure ivory to the tip or do it some other way? and how do you decide where to apply the different colour glazes? thanks for your help and sorry for all the questions! only asking because it looks great!

Cheers WGS.

Quantum - Not Balor its citadel base-XV-88. I have base mix like a slighty dry wash then the very tip into the hightlight. Make sure the highlight is thinker mix than the under base wash.
As for placement of the glazes, well thats the question! ha, im still learning that so its all about reference.

Great result with the loaded brush!
Ben has been a huge influence on my painting (for the better) over the last few years. I've been meaning to try the loaded brush myself - I might give it a go over the Holiday. How easy/quick was it to adapt to?
