Nice start on the bust mate. great idea with the plinths, now you just need a lathe and you can start turning your own as well :)

Thanks both :)

Inspired by Baileys black orc ive been messing with this bust, focusing on more skin texture with stippling and experimenting with different colours in the shadows and midtones.

I think you meant to say, "...inspired by BloodFather's lizard mount..." no? :p

You are going to include drool strings in this dude's mouth, aren't you? Also, I think he could benefit from some markings on the side of his forehead. See Banshee's Abyssal Warlord bust as an example. View attachment 52442

pretty impressive textures on the skin!!

On the wood plinths, you nailed them!
They look like if it were made from olive wood, did it smell good when sanding? Olive wood has a special scent that it is very recognisable ;)

Can I make a suggestion to ad a couple of veins to the head (temples forehead) and then when you glaze back over them it looks like they lie just under the skin can look very good.

Yeah, the skin on this guy is looking great! Nice color choices too.

I kind of liked him without pupils/irises. Something about the solid yellow eyes that I found interesting.

Thanks both :)

Bailey, yeah I know what you mean he was more creepy without eyes, now he looks a bit more friendly.

Digga - that's a great compliment mate, to know my painting effects someone (in a good/bad way) shows progress :jump:

Just the body to do now, what started as just an exercise in different skin/paint effects is turning out to be a real fun project and is turning out better than I had hoped :)

The interior of the mouth and the terrific spittle effect really make this piece for me!
Do you mind sharing how you did the spittle? I assume you used microbeads for the globules, but how did you produce the nice tails- or whatever you'd call them- that connect them to the mouth itself? [Please don't say Uhu, as that seems to be a difficult product to get in the USA.]

Great job so far! I love how you're approaching this skin, which could certainly come across as boring if you weren't adding so much with your stippling and line work!

cheers all :)

SaintT- its a thin fibre of dry babywipe (wetwipe), very carefully superglue on, the brushed with vallejo water effect and finally (as you say) two glass micro beads.
