Orphaned Land - Mabool (an Isreali metal band who use traditional instrumentation)
Skyfire - Spectral
Korpiklaanen - Spirit of the Forest
Norther and Children of Bodom are also in there.

Still listening to Megadeth (the novelty of the re-mastered albums still hasn\'t worn off!), a bit of old Napalm Death (Utopia Banished), and the odd smattering of The Streets, DJ Format, and the GLC.

Only heard one song, don\'t recall the title - it was good but I never got the CD. Fan of both Iced Earth and Blind Guardian though.

No not at all I like all the Metallica albums for very different reasons it\'s just like most bands the first few offerings carry the most weight ie agression/passion in the performance.
I think that up to and including Load they were firing on all cylinders but after that internal problems took there toll.
St Anger after a few plays really grows on you.

What prompted Newstead to leave? I noticed last year he\'s joined Voivod (another album I\'d like if it were a tad cheaper!).

Now Voivod, there\'s an experience in French Canadian thrash if ever there was one!

Newstead left because of restrictions in releasing his own material placed on him by James Hetfield.
The Voivod album is ace to be honest not what I expected at all.
But if you get chance you want to check out Jason Newsteads own stuff that is good as well.
Just listening to Zakk Wyldes Black Label Society at the mo The Blessed Hellride.

When I was like 15 I listend to all kinds of Sesamestreet-Speedmetal such as Rhapsody, Hammerfall, that kind of stuff. But I\'ve grown out of that (Thank God or whoever\'s responsible). And I really couldn\'t listen to that while painting minatures anyway. I\'d start laughing every few seconds because of the rediculously silly lyrics. I vividly remember one part on a Rhapsody CD about a warrior and his friend the dragon who dies. They\'re trying so hard to make the listener cry, but all that comes are tears of laughter. I wonder is Rhapsody still active? Do people still listen to that stuff?

That\'s not Speed Metal, I listen to Rhapsody, and I didn\'t paricularly notice them pushing it.... the last song, \"Gargoyles, Angels of Darkness\" really tries it too hard, but the other ones seemed pretty... resonable to me.

Call it Symphonic Power Theater Medieval Dragonmetal, call it Speedmetal, whatever. It doesn\'t change a thing. As I said when I was 15 I thought it was cool nowadays I just couldn\'t bring myself to listen to that kind of music anymore. But I sold all my cds at eBay and got quite a few bucks for them. Bought minis then of course.

Jason Newsted left because yeah, James\' ego was too big and they\'d bullied him for years. Not anything mean or serious but many things small make one big. So he got sick of it. New bass player Rob Trujillo ain\'t bad at all but Jason leaves a big void unfilled, he was such a good screamer. When Metallica played live here in Iceland, Robwas always a bit slow following Hetfield in the lyrics, like \"MASTER!\" then Rob whispered \"Master!\" after he did. Same with Blackened It was pretty funny.

Oh and I forgot to mention Opeth, anyone listened to them ?

Sure Rhapsody are still out there in fact they have a new album in the offing, I think it\'s ok however for true power fantasy style metal as I said earlier all hail Manowar furry nappies and all. A band that has stood the test of time and the continuos piss taking.
